I mostly use blue dunlop tortex picks. Sometimes green tortex. They last longer than any pick I've used. Never break.

Use my fingers rarely nowadays. Mostly for metal stuff that is over all the strings or if a pick just doesn't sound right for a song.

25 minutes of music? $15 - $20 for a normal 12" LP. They were selling it for like $34. I don't care if it's a special release, that doesn't make the cost of producing the vinyl any more expensive, and they're probably seeing close to a 200-400% profit margin on those when everything is said and done.

depends, shipping records to aus/nz is a super expensive process, i know he gets them done in the US somewhere.

that said all his stuff is pretty expensive - check out his line of pedals.

I played finger style only for about 10 years. But switched to pick when I was working for an ice cream company and my hands kept cracking and bleeding.

Hurt too much to play so I started using a pick, found I preferred the sound and attack of a pick, now I play 99% with a pick, only occasionally messing around at home with finger style.

I mix, depending on what I'm going for play style...fingers mostly for VEGA and the opposite for Flying Medusa, I use a pick almost entirely. The bassist from Sandrider is actually a big influence for my playing style for FM. I really like his use of chords to bring a fullness to the mix because of a thinner guitar tone. Al is my biggest influence for VEGA.

Playing without effects these past few months has really made me more conscious about how I am playing the bass or guitar. How the little things can make a difference in tone...where you contact the string, over the neck or near the bridge, and then the pressure in which you pluck or pick to change the level of dirt, from clean to dirty. Id recommend everyone try it for awhile if you depend on pedals a lot, its amazing what you can do with your fingers and or pick. I hate the saying "tone is all in your fingers" but it really is true.

Yea I never use pedals in my apartment, just fingers, bass, amp. And for the first half of my bass playing life it was always that way.

Oh also guitar player for FM traded some of his drum stuff he's not using anymore for a Fender PA100. I brought it too the space for him since I had VEGA practice, daisy chaining all the channels together makes for a really good dirty Fender tone. Its basically a twin reverb with 4 inputs and in a head form.

Jealous those PA100's are supposed to be funtastic. And you can make each channel unique

A sleeper in the fender world for sure. He was thinking of getting a 212 Deville, but I talked him out of it because the awesome sorcery of a PA100. If I didn't spend $500 on new speakers for those Kustom PA cabs, which I'm now trying to sell because I can't make them something theyre not, I would've bought it.

I play with a pick all the time. Over the years I have developed several different attacks and styles that give me a little different sound. A pick can be pretty versatile if you work at it.

Nothing against fingers. Picks just work for me.

Putting together a cheap-as-**** pedal board, i currently have a Bass Big Muff, Small Stone Nano, Boss bass Chorus, Crybaby bass wah and (don't laugh) behringer bass overdrive. Going to pick up a Joyo Ultimate Drive to replace (or maybe supplement) the Behringer, i figure i can justify one more pedal. I don't play any gigs, just goof around with a couple other guys...i'm thinking a delay? Anything i should look for that i might find for say $50?

Finger style only. Even when I pick up a guitar I will use my finger nail instead of a pick. I started out on stand up, so learned with my fingers. Trying to play with a pick for me sucks. I get worried I am going to drop it, and grip it tight enough to make my playing too stiff.

I like the sound of a pick. I just need to practice doing it more. I'm much better with my fingers.

I have started to use the pick more on the guitfiddle though.
