I play 100% with fingers. It just feels more comfortable and natural to me. Way more speed and control. However, lately I've kind of started realizing that I prefer the sound of a picked bass most of the time. I bought some picks....
its not that tough, i only started using a pick for my current band, i had never used one before except for dicking around on guitars. just takes some time.
there is no chance your fingers can go faster than a pick, unless youre one of those metal guys that can use all 4 and are super tight about it. even then, a pick can go faster haha.
Thanks for the tip! This was from Maharana on Theirer road. Nice people there, too. They always give me a free Chai while I wait for my take out.
Good insights on pick vs. fingerstyle. Re: split open fingers, I've been struggling with that a bit during this gnarly winter. With my right hand I can go pick if fingerstyle stings too much, but my left hand is just fugged.

i hate it because i get endorsed for things that i dont even know what they are. i cant wait til i get some job offer that is like "we see youre a master of configuration security evaluation and testing procedures, we'd love to bring you on!". my response back will just say "wut".
wheres everyone taking their ladies for v-day tonight? were going to Dorsias, took me forever to get a res but i know the maitre d.
Dinner at a nice italian place that's in an old church (I work with the owner's husband), then adults-only night at the Children's Museum (actually really fun, there's beer and hard cider), then if we're not feeling too old and tired there's a free Irish String Band + Bluegrass show at one of the neighborhood dive bars.
Leaving work early today as I'm already pushing 40 hours. Should be a fun night.
Faster because I don't have to bend down to pick up the little piece of plastic I dropped.
Obviously a pick is faster for steady thrash style notes but I'm not talking about that.

Fiance and I agree that it's a dumb holiday.
We're getting either BBQ or Mexican food tonight at the appropriate local places.
Followed by watching movies and testing out our first wedding present we got, a new blender. It will be tested by making margaritas.

My wife is a saint and puts up with a lot of BS. Our schedules are pretty much opposite, she works two jobs, takes care of her aging mother and hardly has a moment to herself. We both happen to have the night free so we're going to have some fun.
You married/commited relationship guys better do something nice for your lady. It doesn't have to be traditional Valentine's day lameness - just do something nice.
