But I had to take apart my Morley Power Boost Wah a couple weeks ago to fix the lamp shade inside, now that its back to its original state theres actually TOO much sweep in it for my taste. Need to put some bumpers in the front and back to limit just how high and low it can go, the middle is so gooshy and awesome though with a Muff behind it

What will the V4BH do differently than the Bassman? I mean if you don't use the Bassman because its overkill for your practice space, the V4BH is going to be be even more overkill. And if you don't have a cab yet, how do you know the Fender is too thin sounding? Are you able to use the cab from your combo with your Bassman? I'd try it out in a band mix before I'd get rid of it and get the V4BH.

The reason i didn't used my bassman was that i had no cab at first, but the place is fairly small ( i play through a guitar combo on like 7 and still i am loud ) , in addition to buying a cab which i GAS but had no money , i am thinking of trading this. In terms of volume i could be the same , in terms of tone i think the ampeg is gonna be a huge upgrade , considering i can get some punk love too for my other band. Also gigs are not something i consider, since all the venues near here have their own gear (ampeg svt4 pros and 810 mostly) . So the true point is if it's really worth ditching my vintage bassman which i would want to keep for that ampeg.

Back in March 2013 while Dinosaur Jr were on tour in Australia, j stopped by the shop to play an intimate and very loud instore as his alter ego Heavy Blanket. Bringing heavy psych, guitar solos and noise - lots of noise - together in an amalgam of pure music, it was the first time anywhere that Heavy Blanket had performed live.

Bringing everything together on March 14th at Tym guitars in Brisbane, Australia the result was something to behold. The shop was packed and the stage was set up with over 300W's of valve power just for j to wail through while Graham had fourteen 10"s speakers pumping out the bass.
The result is 25 minutes of volume and screeching Jazzmaster backed by a heavy, driving rhythm section. The show was professionally recorded to 16 track and captured for future generations to be in awe of.

Gnarly. Too bad it's $30.

i have been into this store and it is pretty ****ing awesome. $30 is a pretty standard price for a special release in aus/nz. your exchange rate used to be waaaay better against our dollars so that is probably quite expensive in comparison.

25 minutes of music? $15 - $20 for a normal 12" LP. They were selling it for like $34. I don't care if it's a special release, that doesn't make the cost of producing the vinyl any more expensive, and they're probably seeing close to a 200-400% profit margin on those when everything is said and done.

I'm sure this has been covered before, but probably before I started frequenting. Do y'all pick or fingerstyle or a mix? I'm curious as why no matter the answer. If a mix, how do you determine which method? I've been doing a lot of picking lately, though I've mostly always been a fingerstyle guy. I've been enjoying that extra bit of attack with a pick lately. Just curious.

Check that, I think ever since I got the VI I've started picking more. At first I did it before I got used to the tight spacing. Then it just started creeping in.

its a mix and depends on what im playing. anything on clean i usually play finger style, anything with fuzz i use a pick. this applies to the osedax, in my 90s cover band i usually try to just do whatever the original bassist was doing. and with my bee bass i never use a pick.

I go back and forth between the two. I really, really like the attack i get from a pick, usually a blue Dunlop or something thicker.

However, my guitar has been in storage for a few years now and I'm out of practice with a pick so i end up going back to fingers. On the doom band's one fast song I'll sometimes use a pick, the extra attack fits there, but it seems a little wrong for our other stuff.

i discovered my attempt to copy john entwhistle's technique as a teenager goes over extremely well with doom and a rick so i stick solely with fingers
