Does anyone use the Invalid Link Removed? The first set I bought's E string (.106) had about 3/5ths the output that the rest of the strings had. Thought it was a fluke. Bought another set after a month and emailed Circle K about it, they said they had revised their tapers to fix that issue. I strung the new strings up last night. I've only had a chance to play it acoustically, but it seems the E string is still low output.

Nut and saddle slots are cut accurately and tightly. The problem can't be pickups as the B string would sound the same as the E if that were the case (side by side dual coil humbucking J pickups) :spit:

It's bad enough that I find myself playing notes I'd usually play on the E on other strings because they just disappear when played on the E. :mad:

Sucks because I LOVE how the strings feel/sound otherwise. :(

In other news, that Fender/Sunn 2x15 I bought at GC for $173 turns out to have a blown speaker. (Open circuit) Good thing I bought the Pro Coverage for $15. Last time I went through this with a used Genz Benz cab. Used the Pro Coverage, which refunded me the entire purchase price because it was "unrepairable" :rolleyes: Bought all new Eminence Legends for it with the warranty money. Total price paid for a Genz Benz 410T-XB with brand new Emi Legends: $300 :)

Hopefully this works out like that too. :smug:

Really now that I think of it, I've prefered the "big box" versions to the "XO" versions of all the EHX pedals I've owned over the years

Bass Micro Synth
Deluxe Memory Man
Small Stone
Big Muff

Bassballs - I was indifferent to in XO, silver big box, and black russian big box....why did I keep buying that pedal?

Is it the same giant box as the Russian Big Muff? I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for inefficiently massive pedals.

Yep, this, though I just have the Behringer knock off of the DMM.

In the case of the aforementioned EHX pedals there was an audible difference between the big box and XO models.

The BMS tracked better and sounded overally smoother, the XO version had a much harsher high end than it's big box brother.

the XO DMM distorted super early, whereas the big box had more headroom before the delay started getting fuzzy...not in a good way.

sounds cool so far but theyre tuned way too low to be playing this quick. when they pick up tempo its literally just mud. this sounds more like dragging high on fire riffs than what i heard on Monnos. still good and i wanna hear the rest of the album.

So , an Ampeg V4BH showed up my local classifieds for a fairly good price , without tubes tho (got some if not all of them ) . Right now i got a 70's fender bassman 70 which i do not use currently as our practise space is a little one and i play through a combo . I am thinking of getting that ampeg , but will have to sell the fender or trade it .
The downside on this is that i haven't played that fender much so i have not gotten into it since i do not have any cab atm and i am preoccupied a bit it may sound "thin" , getting one next week to pair either head. Any thoughts?

Yeah, speaking from experience playing fast in F doesn't translate too well, plus Jon is running a way more fuzzed out signal than our guitarists use (Rat, and a boost into this weird dean markley bass preamp, or Marshall JCM900)

There are some faster parts on the new Conan, but there's still tons of slow riffs, which is where the low tuning really shines.

i still dug it, just would have gone with a different guitar tone for all the fast stuff. god knows how muddy that gets live haha.
