This is a bit of a digression, but I notice Sadowsky (and a few other high-end builders) seem based on Fender designs. Is that the sound they are shooting for too? That seems weird to me.
IIRC, Roger started out setting up and modding Fender basses for players in New York, then decided to start making basses that were like Fenders for people who wanted a higher-quality bass with a Fender vibe. Try one of his Modern 5s if you want to stray away from the Fender sound a bit. I was not too fond of his vintage-style basses that I tried (I'm just not a vintage type of guy), but I love the sound of the Moderns, so I own two.
