Dunno, not to pick a fight or anything, but a lot of people would answer yes. After all, there are a ton of instruments that are thought to be worth more if they are from a time period when "So and so" used to build them. Look at Tobias.

Or look at other industries, like cars. It's known that some year models may be better because the parts were sourced from a better supplier. The transmission may say Ford on it, but it might be better if it was made in Mazda's plant. Does that mean it's a Ford transmission?
