Sadowsky in distribution agreement with Warwick

Let's ponder it another way - this has to do with economies of scale so a "biggish" company probably needed to be the license/distribution partner. So imagine these headlines and the TB response:

"Sadowsky signs deal with Fender"

"Sadowsky signs deal with Rickenbacker"

"Sadowsky signs deal with Gibson"

I'm sure those would have been threads with all love and positivity

Ugh - this is terrible. Warwick of all companies? When I bought my first Sadowsky it was partly to get away from companies like Warwick. The customer service I experienced from Warwick was the polar opposite of what I expect from a company like Sadowsky. I will never again buy anything manufactured by Warwick - Sadowskys included. I have very little respect for Warwick/Hans-Peter and my level of respect for Sadowsky just dropped a notch.

The way Fender has apparently botched the Ultra Jazz V, they may have created a really big opening for Warwick distributed Sadowsky Metroline Express basses in places like select Guitar Centers although I am not sure if Roger wants to see basses with his name of them hanging in lots of GC's needing intonation and suffering fret sprout.

I always had decent (although limited) experience with Warwick in Germany. The north american distributer... not so much.

The dream arrangement would have been with a Japanese company like Yamaha or Ibanez. They could keep MetroExpress quality very high and really increase the level of distribution.

I have no doubt that some people have had good experiences with Warwick customer service. Unfortunately I was not one of those people.

My experience with Warwick for 15 years has been very positive. I think their basses are incredibly well made. I think that this new arrangement will work out well for Sadowsky, Warwick and for people that end up with instruments from this union.

North America or Canada? If you dealt with Efkay (Canada) then you might have had the (dis)pleasure of dealing directly with the president of the company.

The bridge on the 5 string is too wide for the neck, causing G string issues. Lots of posts on it. Otherwise the changes look cool and I like the colors, and the 4 string doesn't have the bridge issue.

Wow. Seems like it's more than just distribution though:

"Warwick will build and distribute our Metro and MetroExpress instruments. Warwick will also distribute our strings and accessories. The new, Warwick-made Metro and MetroExpress Models will debut at the 2020 NAMM show at the Warwick/Sadowsky booth."

'Warwick/Sadowsky booth' just sounds odd! But hey, I like both companies. I've had Warwicks ever since I started playing in the 90's.

The distribution part is actually what surprises me, as Warwick does not have a good history of distribution (go right now and try to order some spare parts from their USA distributor).

I ordered some spare bridge saddles from them, got advice from the main man Hans, and received them promptly. I've always found Warwick extremely helpful. I own three Warwicks and a Sadowsky, and they're my favourite Basses.

G string issues? Does it really sound bad? MM has had "issues" with their neck hum bucker on the HH models prior to the Specials for years and they sounded fine. I think the "botching" is more talk bass hyperbole than actual issue.
