Sadowsky Strings

Necrothread !
Hi everybody, i used to buy the Sadowsky Blue Label .130 set but they run out of stock on my usual store. They have the XL 130 set. Would that work the same with a 34" scale or the set is limited to work only on 35" plus scale ?

Sadowsky "extra long scale" = 39" in wining length (ball end to taper/silk), which is 2" longer than their standard "long scale". This means some of the full winding on the low B will wrap around the tuner post on a typical 34" scale. This may or may not work depending on the bass. Not ideal, though.

If you're in the US, you can always get Sadowsky strings from Fret Nation.

Like Roger himself said not the best idea for using the xl. But good news is that even with a light b string you still might be able to go down up to a full step. You'll just have to be easier on your plucking if it's too much clank. I've done bead tuning with a 45-105 set and it's totally doable. It just gets really easy to dig in so you get used to going easier and/or moving towards the bridge to mitigate it a bit.

That's true plus i like high action which helps a lot in those cases. I would always go for the lightest string possible for a certain tunning. They just sound better to me. I was doing drop A with that .130t and still can go a little lower if needed.
