Sadowsky vs. Bartolini Jazz Pickups?

Hi all,

Anyone have a direct comparison between Barts and Sadowsky's? (in their passive form)

Also, is Sadowsky still selling their on-board pre-amps? Seems to be eternally sold out on the website.

Would appreciate some insight...

There's many version's of Barts... and a few versions of Sadowsky pickups too. Not sure which exact ones your talking about. It doesn't seem like you do either as your question isn't specific enough.

I'm not sure how you are comparing these two as they aren't even close to each other in tone. I'm guessing probably becuase each "name" represents "quality"?

Without getting into specific models, overall:

Barts are darker sounding, less zing on top and smooth sounding.
Sadowsky pickups are brigthter, more alive and aggressive sounding.

My first post, and first reply...thank you Modern Growl.

Yes, it's a very general question, looking for a general answer.

I bought some used Barts recently for dirt cheap as they were left over in a shop...threw them into a Squier to get it tolerable for a practice bass. I am soon hoping to build a nicer 4-J and was going to look into the Hum-canceling Sadowskys that are offered on the Sadowsky website.
But low and behold, these barts sound great...well, given the wood they are in right now.

So given that I don't know exactly what barts I have, and am not sure what the pick-ups are exactly on Sadowsky's website (I know he has used a number different companies), I was just looking for a broad profile answer based on what he is currently selling from his site.
