I think it will be fine. Squires don’t cheapen custom shop Fenders at all.
The key point is that Squiers don’t say Fender on the headstock.

True, it could work in the buyer's favour!I can also see someone at GC confusing a US, Japanese, or German Sadowsky, for a Chinese one too.

Who exactly is looking for an entry level Sadowsky especially as described? Will they be sold in GC? A young kid will not know anything about Sadowsky. How will he market these? Then it wouldn’t be an entry level instrument, as Roger said in the video. Hopefully Roger won’t disown them as another boutique shop did when they licensed their brand name to overseas manufacturers.
FWIW, I think Warwicks China factory has done nice work with the RockBass line, vastly improved the last few years.
Lol..kids today are very brand aware. And probably older cats like me can suggest they give them a look.Who exactly is looking for an entry level Sadowsky especially as described? Will they be sold in GC? A young kid will not know anything about Sadowsky. How will he market these?
A $900 bass isn't exactly entry level, LOL.
What's really interesting here is the power of his brand and the name.
I bet some of the people here wouldn't even sniff a bass made in China. But then Sadowsky comes along and makes a chinese-made bass and all of a sudden... the bass could be really nice... if Roger is behind it I'm sure it'll be high quality... Chinese manufacturing has improved...etc.

China is perfectly capable of making basses as nice as the old Japanese Metros if the person paying the bills instructs them to do so.
China the country you mean..?
A factory in China is perfectly capable of making basses as nice as the old Japanese Metros? The Sadowsky Tokyo shop? I don't think so, and, I don't think Roger thinks so.
China certainly can make high quality end gear. Typing this on my Chinese-manufactured iPhone next to a MacBook Pro.
Read again what I said and in respond to what, please.
Ok, you’re arguing semantics then?

That was then, this is now.LOL... that what RS himself said again and again since starting the Tokyo shop, in every interview, in every opportunity. Japan - yes, elsewhere - no. Custom shop - yes, factory - no.
Again, I'm not against this move. I just responded to Dr. Cheese remark.
