The key point is that Squiers don’t say Fender on the headstock.
Then substitute MIM Fenders in that statement.
Who exactly is looking for an entry level Sadowsky especially as described? Will they be sold in GC? A young kid will not know anything about Sadowsky. How will he market these?
A $900 bass isn't exactly entry level, LOL.
What's really interesting here is the power of his brand and the name.
I bet some of the people here wouldn't even sniff a bass made in China. But then Sadowsky comes along and makes a chinese-made bass and all of a sudden... the bass could be really nice... if Roger is behind it I'm sure it'll be high quality... Chinese manufacturing has improved...etc.

Lol..kids today are very brand aware. And probably older cats like me can suggest they give them a look.
Roger's first few words in the video regarding the ME was so that younger players could afford his stuff. By younger he may not mean a "kid". If I could have gotten a Sadowsky for around a grand in my early twenties while I was waiting tables, I would have jumped on it. Sadowsky was the Unicorn brand I dreamed about. A US Fender was more more in reach.
All you have to do is check out a Dingwall if you can. China is perfectly capable of making basses as nice as the old Japanese Metros if the person paying the bills instructs them to do so.
DW, as Marcus Miller has said, kids aren’t the ones buying Sires. You bought one and let it go. Lots of adults, like me, who don’t have $2K disposable cash are interested in $1K Sadowsky’s even if they are a step down in some aspects.

China certainly can make high quality end gear. Typing this on my Chinese-manufactured iPhone next to a MacBook Pro.
No I don't. You made a good point but it had nothing to do with what I said.
Checkout a Dingwall Combustion NG2, NG3, or any other model. The run about the same as the Japanese Metros, between $2.3-$2.9K. I played one Saturday before last at Bass Central in Florida. They are 100% top notch and made China with a final set up in Canada, like Lakland does with their Indonesian made Skylines.
They can and they have. Bias held by people like you though, probably played a part in Roger's decision making process.
Do you really think that in a country with written history dating back around 4000 years, there is no one capable of making a nice bass guitar?
LOL... that what RS himself said again and again since starting the Tokyo shop, in every interview, in every opportunity. Japan - yes, elsewhere - no. Custom shop - yes, factory - no.

It’s all in the final setup. That’s where the extra dough goes. All these countries can and do make decent instruments with good components. but are the frets level and seated properly,is the neck relief good, are the pickups at the right height for the action, etc etc..
