Sam Ash and Warwicks?

i saw a guitarcenter warwick thread and it reminded me- i was at my sam ash recently and they have two Warwick Thumbs up for 999 each, what's the deal? aren't these things going for 2400?

Last time I was at Sam Ash, they had a used Thumb 5 for $1300, a 1998 I think it was, and it played and sounded great!

PRobably on clearance, I actually bought my Thumb for $1000 on clearance at GC. Turned out it was one of the 2001 Limited EDition Thumbs, so yeah for me.

Check 'em THOROUGHLY before you buy!! I was about to buy a les paul from GC once that was a killer deal...asked the guy why so cheap and he said they just wanted to move it.

while I was waiting to check out I noticed a line on the neck just below the headstock (barely visable) had the guy do more digging. it had fallen and broke in two so the glued it together and were pawning it off as a "deal"!

to be honest I have NO use for big chains anymore for anything other than picks and strings! (even w/ that I got screwed at a GC who sold me a pack of boomers w/ a broken string. GHS was cool enough to replace it quickly. . . )

This time last year I bought my Warwick Corvette $$ for around that price, $990, from GC no less; it sat for a year at closer to $1400.

Warwick switched US distributors last year so they were do a huge clearance sale from the old one. I got my Corvette fretless for a song too. Some stores may still have old stock from old distributors at discounted prices. The GC here is Seattle got cleaned out quick when they went on clearance last year. They had Corvette $$'s for $1100 new.

Got mine for much less than that, also from GC. Bought mine almost entirely because the clearance price was unbelievably low. Wasn't even looking to add another bass to the roster, although at this point, the $$ has ended up becoming my favorite.
