Just wanted to see if others on TB have experienced this. I have a Himalayan blue G&L LB-100 in alder/RW and a G&L cranberry red Detroit Muscle Series LB-100 also alder/RW. Both are strung with Fender M7250 NPS .045-.105 strings. Both setups are identical.
The thing is this... the Detroit Muscle bass has a noticably fatter sound with more lows and low mids. The blue LB-100 has more highs and high mids. Both are very clear sounding. I would have to turn down the tone about 1/4 on my blue bass to get it to sound closer to the Detroit Muscle with the tone up full. Closer but still not the same. Anyone else ever experience something like this? I am happy with this since I have two different sounding basses but it was unexpected.
