Samsung Galaxy S4

Who has ordered, or plans on getting, the GS4? Mine's ordered, and I'm impatiently waiting. Reviews of this thing have been sick thus far. Benchmarks top every other Android option, and simply decimate the iPhone 5. It packs a quad-core 1.9Ghz processor, a 5 inch Full HD screen with 441 dpi (in a smaller chassis than the 3GS despite the bigger screen, no less), 13mp camera, etc. etc. I can't wait to get my meatpaws on one myself. It seems that this, The HTC One, and the Sony Xperia are the Android leaders currently. Neither the Sony nor HTC really impresses me though. Plus, I loved my GS2, and love the GS3 that a friend owns.

To add to my impatience, my GS2 crapped out several weeks ago, and I've been stuck using my dinosaur of a iPhone 3GS that was relegated to iPod duties. Anyone using that old of an iPhone with iOS6.whatever knows how disgustingly slow it is. It was my iPod in my car for months, and it worked well for that. Take away that feature, and it's useful as nothing more than a paperweight!

I love my iPhone 5, I couldn't care less about benchmark tests, I have my laptop for that (which actually has worse specs than my phone). My phone is super slick, works perfectly with everything that I own, never given me one problem, awesome battery life and is incredibly smooth. I have had three friends that have had their S3s crap out on them and they have all switched to the iPhone 5 and love it.

I'm with iamlowsound, I have no use for a pocket computer. I'm starting to question the necessity of having a phone but I'm hooked to a contract for one more year. I'll probably get rid of it after.

If you're on the edge of your seat waiting for the next model, then maybe you need to get out and do some real living.
Because I'm interested in a new phone I'm not really living? If there were any truth to that I might be offended. As it stands, I have one hell of a life, however.

I can't wait to read your review Eric. I'm really happy with my RAZR M for now.

That's a slick device too, Mike. How do you like it? The S4 should be here Tuesday. I can give you an update in a week or so if you'd like...

I love the S3 with custom rom and kernel (I use Task650's AOKP take and LeanKernel)
But the S4 is too close to the S3 to justify an upgrade. I'll just wait for the next GSM Nexus that is not made by LG

:p
I was running Task's AOKP ROM on my i777. I think it was a Siyah kernel, but I forget. When it pooped out, I flashed stock to try and save it (unsuccessfully), so I can't even check. I've used a few ROMs, and that one was probably my favorite overall. If I had the S3 (and it worked. lol) I'm sure I wouldn't be getting the 4 either. I guess if a phone has to die, mine died at a good time.

It's taking me some time to get used to not having a keyboard. I've been using the Droids since they came out, so this had been a big deal for me. Swype helps.

The device itself is great. Very well built, feels solid. I dropped it a few times, no damage and I don't have a case or screen protector on it. I really like the Jelly Bean OS, especially the smart actions. It's really fast too. I have it rooted, but not OC'ed, no need.

I'm looking forward to your review. I won't get one, but I like to be knowledgeable on the new devices, especially when someone asks me what I know about them. Being in IT and all, it happens. :)

Have you tried the Kii keyboard? It's customizable to a crazy degree. It does have its own version of swype as well. It's what I was using, and what I will be using on the 4.

I'm honestly not much of a phone geek I just like sexy, shiny tech things. You know what I really want though? The creation of phone variants like the RAZR MAXX to become a standard. I'm pretty sure I'd commit murder for a GS3 with double it's current battery life (though, my battery drain issues have more to do with the custom ROM I'm running, I'm sure).

The 4 has a 2,600mAh battery compared to the 3's 2,100 one. The screen is reported to be more efficient as well. That being said, the screen is slightly larger and the CPU, faster. What all this equates to in real life battery stats remind to be seen, however.

Battery life doesn't concern me, I'm around power outlets all day long. I do understand the concern though for folks who may not have that convenience.

Did anyone see the charger on Shark Tank this past Friday? It charges itself via kinetic energy to provide charging power to mobile devices.

I have an LG Optimus G...I love it. It's fast and slick and has a brilliant 720p IPS screen. The screen is 4.7", which is about as big as I can tolerate.

It's a quad-core 1.5GHz CPU, with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage...and some other crap. I think the camera is 9MP.

I had a GS2 before it..and it was fine...but the GPS sensor/thing was quite weak. If it wasn't out in the open, it could not connect. The LG has no such trouble.

The Optimus is a good deal more durable than the GS2 too. It has a metal chassis with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 on front and back.

Also, the LG battery seems a lot stronger. At the end of an average day, the Optimus battery is down to about 80%, whereas the GS2, even new, was down to 30-40%.

FWIW, daughter has an iPhone 4. I hate that thing. It's so clunky and unintuitive to work with.
