Samsung Galaxy S4

Wulp, I got the phone last night. I've only tinkered for a few hours so far, but first impressions are that it's one hell of a device. First thing you notice is the screen, which is incredible! Good luck trying to see a pixel here. It's crystal clear and the colors just pop. Plus, the contrast is very impressive. The OLED screens are known for their black levels.

I'm still in the process of setting it up. I'm a creature of habit, and need it tweaked like my S2 was. That includes Nova Launcher Prime, and the screens set up as I'm used to. I'll add more as I tinker. The only thing I did so far was root it. You can't use Titanium Backup without root access. Using Moto chopper's method it took less than five minutes.

Regrading the *gimmicky* stuff like Smart Scroll, etc., the jury is still out. Smart Scroll itself is awesome, and I've used it several times. I would always use it, but it doesn't work with Dolphin's browser :atoz:. With the other gesture/eye features, I'll have to play some more before I comment...

After getting my S3, I'm sure I'm gonna be a Galaxy kinda guy for a good while yet.

Naw. If HTC or someone else makes what I feel is a better device, I'm gone. In my opinion, the GS4 is currently the best out there, however.

The HTC and Samsung are close. It sounds silly, but a deal breaker for me was the lack of a hardware home button on the HTC. after *constantly* hitting the soft keys while trying to type on the S2, I couldn't buy a new device with a similar layout.

I agree. The new One looks really really nice. Im still a galaxy fan. Im hoping to get the 4 soon if possible but my next upgrade isnt until next year. :crying: i guess i will get the gs5 then since it will probably be out by then

You've had a few weeks with the S4 now. How is it? How is the Air Gesture feature?

Jesus i just saw this post now! I'm sorry.
The phone is great. The air gesture thing is cool, but honestly it is gimmicky. The Smart Stay and Smart Scroll do get used. However. I just wish Smart Scroll worked in browsers other than stock (I typically use Dolphin).

I just got a GS4, but I don't know what all that fancy tech stuff is you're talking about, Eric. Anything cool you can teach me to do with it?

Can I fly a plane with it? This thing is pretty dang awesome. :D

I haven't learned to fly a plane with it. Sorry. :atoz:

Honestly, I'm running an aftermarket ROM that has the majority of bloat crap stripped off. I still have all the Samsung goodies (Air Gestures, Smart Scroll, Smart Stay, the IR Blaster remote, etc).
