sanberg preamp hissing

Hi Colls

I have an issue with my new bass , i bought warwick streamer lx 5 form someone and he told me that he replaced the mec preamp with sandberg preamp and after i bought it when the treblle bass knob is on full treble it's making noisy hissssss .
and if i turnning the knob to the moddle i don't hear it.
some one had this issue ?
what is your advice for solving it ?

what do u mean it will happen with any preamp
in streamer lx bass ?
cause i have stingray bass too and i don't have this issue.

the hisssss is very high like empty radio station :crying:
what can i do for reduce that noise to minimum

I don't agree 100% with Bongo, there are better and worse preamps, but unfortunately most of them have similar noise issues.
if your pickups are passive, then I think the noise source is the preamp, but active pickups can add some noise too (this is not so common, and not that bad IME).

I have this on all my basses to varying degrees. I don't turn the treble knob up that high anyway because it makes everything sound too glassy and seems to amplify string noise too much.

My Ibby EDB605 is most free from this, especially since I replaced the Ibby opamp with a low noise version although hiss is often dependent on other components (high value resistors are big offenders). My Ibby BTB675 hisses noticeably with the treble turned way up. I think the 675 is worse because the treble control frequency is lower so there's more energy in the band to be amplified. The treble frequence on the 605 is very high for a bass preamp.

Unfortunately, component hiss usually get amplified by the preamp, unlike power supply noise which doesn't seem to clobber the signal as much.
