Sandberg bass ??

Hi there. I am looking to buy a new bass at the moment. It needs to be a good alrounder and will spend most of its time in the studio. I have recently been trying the sandberg california basses and they sounded and played beautifully. But the the california p-basses that I like the finnish on have different pickups to the rest of the range ( delaro's on all the others).

has anyone used a sandberg california p-bass with the sandberg pickups and not the delaros. Or recommend something else in a similar vein ( £1000 mark)

Ive been looking at Sandbergs alot recently. Havn't played one yet, you cn get a custom one from Sandberg for about £1000.

I say its either that or a Bongo of course

You'd be hard pressed to find a bongo for £1K. You can look into the Clovers as well. Their basses are very similar to the Sandbergs.

I doubt there would be much difference between the two Sandbergs really. afaik, the delano are in fact sort of 'custom made' for sandberg, so they could be the same thing with a different name.

I've seen Bongos sell for £700-£800 used.

As for Sandberg basses, I love them. Very high quality and not too badly priced when you look at other basses on the market.

yeah I played the j and p-basses against the fender j and p's in the same price range and they sounded so much better. just want to make sure if im spending 1k im getting it right.

My bass teacher has a sandberg. Some sort of ebony wood or something. So beautiful and sounds so good.

I believe that sandberg pickups are made by delano and cased under a sandberg carcass.

Go for sandberg if you can, really high quality basses for reasonable prices. The sandberg pickups are delaros, there is hardly any difference. The electronics are also very good, glockenklang makes them. The active/passive 3 band eq on mine is very good, gives you all the tones you could ask for.

I have got a Sandberg california JM my self, and it rocks a very versatile bass for a reasonable price, and the neck!! I've never played any thing like it!! shure beat most basses in its pricerange!!!

Mmmm, Im really wanting a Sandbery.

If you go just over the £1K mark you can get a Sadowsky, ive seen them new for about £1,200-£1,300.
