Actually, both of these basses sound very good to me (listened on my office/studio system. Good recording and great playing, BTW!).

Big Stingray fans and owners like me will naturally lean toward the Stingray. Classic Stingray tone that comes through well. The Sandberg, to my ear, has its own distinctive tone that I like and wouldn’t mind exploring some more of with it in my own hands.

I voted Stingray because it’s familiar to me. But that shouldn’t diminish the Sandberg in any way.

And you do good demos. Is this your first or do you have others?

Great demo OP. I have first hand experience with StingRays and Sandbergs.

They both sound sweet. But if I personally had to choose one Im going StingRay every time. I just love that signature StingRay bounce that no other bass has.

By the way , are you using stock strings on both? :headphone:

I'm a Stingray guy and in general prefer the Stingray sound. But man...that Sandberg is fantastic...and it doesn't even have a humbucker!!! I am so familiar with the MM sound that I have a bias towards it. But I love how the Sandberg sounds. Great bass!

I think for this tune, slight edge to the MM, but man, that Sandberg has me interested. No points lost for the Sandberg at all.

Wow. Good job, Van. Recording came out really nice.

For me, the first setting used on each were my faves. I, actually, thought the Sandberg was a little more interesting, memorable, etc. , but just barely and both very useable at a gig. Win, win.

I am thoroughly and unashamedly jealous of your stable
