Not really, I knew a kid growing up who used to make peanut butter & mayo sandwiches. Now THAT is gross.
OK, you guys are completely ruining the thought of a sandwich for me.
I would much rather have a good sandwich, potato salad, chips, and pickle than most meals I can think of.

My old roommate was a huge fan of grilled peanut butter and marshmallow sandwhiches. Often for breakfast.
I have a few favorite sandwhiches.
*bread (note: can be white, wheat, rye, sourdough, whatever, but it MUST be quality bread)
*fresh deli roast beef (lots of it.)
*miscellaneous other deli meats, if you have them. I enjoy salami.
*Muenster cheese
*leaf or romaine lettuce (note: Absolutely no bagged salad crap)
*thin sliced red onion
*thin sliced green pepper
*bananna pepper rings
*mayonaise to taste (thats mayo, not miracle whip)
*a little less mustard than mayo (French's sucks. But Plochmans for yellow, or, even better, gourmet non-yellow mustard.)
*salt & pepper
*bread
And my second favorite:
*lightly toasted sourdough
*tunafish (white, mixed with mayonaise and diced white onion and pickles.)
*leaf or romaine lettuce
*a bit of mustard
*salt and pepper
And, it's absolutely MANDATORY, no matter what sandwhich it is, that it is served with a large, cold dill pickle or two on the side. They provide excellent inter-sandwhich snacking breaks.

Back to the original topic, a Reuben with cole claw instead of kraut is actually called a Rachel...just in case any one wanted to get their deli trivia fix for the day.

Rye bread is crucial to a good Reuben. I prefer dark rye but Jewish rye will do in a pinch.
Jalapenoes actually make a nice addition to a Reuben.
I only sandwiches that I put slaw on are BBQ sandwiches, but I'm a card-carrying, Sweet Tea drinking, fulfill stereotype except the derogatory ones, southerner.

This may be true in some cases, but from my experience, I'll take the slaw on the side and slap the kraut on it. Slaw may work well in other hot sandwiches, but it doesn't for my Reubens.
My favorite:

toasted Sourdough bread
dijon mustard (or some sort of spicy mustard)
lettuce
Provolone or Swiss cheese and lots of it
That's it. Usually I'll toast the whole thing when I get it together, just to give it some heat and to melt the cheese(s)
My ex used to eat bagels with mustard and pickles. Yeah she was a strange one.....

Peanut butter and banananananananana(that's an easy word to start writing, but a hard one to know when to stop.) is awesome. Or you can try the Presley variant, and grill the peanut butter and bananananana with bacon in there, too. 'The Kang' used to whale on those things. (I know that should have been 'wail' in stead of 'whale.' But, considering how big E'vil got in the last two or three years of his life, compared to previously, whale seemed appropriate.)
Cole slaw instead of kraut on a reuben is flat out wrong. This is like so called "cooks" putting cottage cheese on lasagna. :scowl:
