I wasn’t interested in buying any specific bass simply based on the finish... in fact since I build basses, I would more likely just paint my own bass.

I wasn’t saying “I only want xxxxx bass solely because it’s camouflage”.

;)

bTW - it’s extremely common for people to seek out various basses due to a “look”.... for instance, wanting a flame maple top, or a sonic blue color.

True. Drives me nuts. It's a tool to make music, not a piece of art to hang on a wall. Sorry, that's just my personal bias. I really don't give one minuscule crap about what a bass looks like as long as it sounds awesome and feels good to play.

As far as I can tell multicam is sort of jargon...actually I believe it's a registered trademark. You might like this page, which shows different multicam schemes which are optimized for different environments. One of them looks pretty much like the old woodland camo pattern to me. Patterns | MultiCam® Family of Camouflage Patterns

Thanks, a real flashback for me. I really like the tropical. Never did pay much attention to the details of it then, but thinking back I remember whoever manufactured it did have variants, but the standard was what caught my eye. What sold me on it was some of their photos and how well their flagship pattern worked in many different environments. I'm sure the trademark is the reason the military is states OCP is different.

I agree the tropical pattern has a really nice hue.

I think the military shies away from using signature brands to try and keep the price down. I believe when I was still in, clothing sales offered official uniforms world-wide from two approved vendors that were at different quality and price points. I believe the main difference was the quality of, and type of fabric.

My unit also bought specialty uniforms from a local off base vendor who had to have some sort of special contract/authorization with the military. They were essentially a tailor shop with authorization to make various uniform items from scratch. They used official patterns and had to buy fabric from the same approved sources as the two large vendors I referenced earlier.
