SANS AMP Question ?

Hey I just got a Sans Amp bass driver and can't believe the monster sound out of my amp . This is the holy grail I don't want to turn it off. The problem is some one told me I can't get this sound out of the pa mains if I use this in front of my amp and I had to use the rack mount one and go into the effects return and I thought I could as long as I use my xlr out on the back of my amp is this true? if so I am way bummed because I love the sound and I want this to go through the pa mains.

Here's the thing- if the sound you love is a combination of the Sansamp, your amp, and your speaker cab, then the only way to get that sound is to mic the cab! You can't get that "combination" sound taking a cable from only one of the pieces. If the sound you love can be gotten from just the Sansamp and the preamp stage of your amp, taking the power section and the speaker cab out of the picture, then you can use the DI out on the back of your amp to send that combined Sansamp-preamp signal to the PA.

There are some other variations on this line of thought, such as using a particular type of DI box to take the power section output of your amp and sending that signal to the PA, but it may not sound quite the way you'd expect.

well what is the advantage of the rack mount version the man at the pa is still going to be able to alter your sound either way or am I missing something. what ever effects you use in front of your amp will be sent to pa using xlr out post eq on back of amp not just heard on stage correct ?

Whatever pedals you put in front of the main instrument input on your amp are pre EQ, not post EQ.

And yeah, whatever signal you send to the PA will get EQ'ed, compressed, and messed with by the soundman regardless.
