Sansamp Paradriver Owners...Level Question

I recently bought a Paradriver V2. The problems I'm noticing is that when I turn the level knob all the way off, the pedal still produces sound. Another issue is that when the drive knob is turned all the way up it doesn't produce much distortion but the "bleed through" signal even with the level turned off is still very loud and strong. I can't get a good low level distortion.

I also own an RPM and in comparison when I turn the level off, there is no sound and I can get a good distortion at a low level.

Is this normal for this pedal?

i'll wait for your response to Dave W's questions, as they're pretty important to diagnose your issue. That blend knob is absolutely crucial to determine what amount of drive will be output from the DI.

I do notice you referred to it as a pedal. It's important to note it is NOT a pedal, but a DI. While it can be used as a pedal, and MANY people do use it as such, it doesn't behave like a typical stompbox.

Which output are using?
Where is your blend set?

With the Drive full up it should be a pretty raging distortion, unless you're blended all to your clean signal.
I set the blend to full on (all the way to the right).

As an experiment, I set my RPM and Paradriver up the same and the Paradriver's distortion sounded anemic. I used the 1/4" outputs on both into a Carvin DCM 1000 into an F112.

The other problem is that the Paradriver doesn't shut off when the level is all the way off (to the left) and the volume increases the more I turn up the drive even with the level completely off. This makes it impossible to get a low level distortion. On the RPM, I can crank the drive with the blend all the way up and the level can completely turn off the signal coming out of the cab if I want to, which makes it easy to get a nice distortion at a low level if needed. Maybe I have a defective Paradriver?

You're right, my mistake. I overlook that aspect about the Paradriver, yet I always refer to the RPM as a preamp.

It's most definitely a pedal. It's a preamp pedal w/ DI.

I use mine all the time as a typical overdrive pedal and have never used it as a DI. Same with my VT Bass DI.
