It might be different over in the States, but where I come from its not so much the music repulsing the girls, it's the girls losing interest in the music. I can't remember a time when it was as uncool to be a musician as it is now, and you have to be considered cool to get the attention of women. Over here at the moment if you want to get mobbed by girls, what you have to do is be either a rapper or a dance music DJ. As far as I'm aware, most girls (in my area of the UK) currently rate rock musicians at about the same level as the guy who picks up their trash on their scale of attractiveness.
All of the girls that used to go out and chase cool musicians now swoon after rich idiots that kick a bag of wind around an acre of grass. Yes my friend, footballers are the new rock stars. Back in the day Mick Jagger would have been balls-deep with Cheryl Tweedy in no time, nowadays those girls are getting married up to anyone who plays football (or soccer, for the US crowd.) and lets them have their own credit card.
There's a lesson in here- Girls follow the money. Simple as that.

I'll never meet but maybe a small handful of people on here, but I'll see everyone who comes to my gig. And believe it or not, we actually get plenty of gals under 60 at our gigs
