Say Goodbye to Adobe Flash

As far as functional web design goes (not fun animations) Flash is AWFUL. Artistically, flash based sites can be amazing but user interaction is pure suck. Now, I just hope Apple has made a similarly clairvoyant prediction with the introduction of Thunderbolt. Sooooooo much potential but no one is adopting it :(.

Note - Thunderbolt is an Intel owned and invented standard. Apple are just the first folks to SELL a machine including it.

I think Apple participated in the Thunderbolt dev project with Intel, and in return Apple got a one year exclusive on Thunderbolt hardware. Something like that.

Correct. Thunderbolt was a collaboration project between Apple and Intel.

I'm not sure who owns the Thunderbolt copyright but I just want it to become more widespread so us Mac guys aren't left in the dust by USB 3.0. We want faster data transfer speeds too, ya know :atoz:.

Actually Intel developed Thunderbolt (originally as Light Peak, an optical standard) and Apple is responsible for the connector (it uses the DisplayPort connector).

and in return Apple got a one year exclusive on Thunderbolt hardware. Something like that.

"...but Apple doesn't actually have a timed exclusive on the technology, at least according to Intel PR. The company told us that while it's currently targeting an early 2012 launch for Thunderbolt with other OEMs -- whereas the new MacBook Pro has Thunderbolt right now -- there's nothing stopping other manufacturers from launching machines with the 10Gbps interconnect a good bit earlier if they so desire."

I stand corrected. Still hoping the technology (both Light Peak and Thunderbolt) becomes some kind of standard or at least very widespread.
