SBMM SB14 Battery

Hi all,

I bought a used SB14 recently, and 99.999% sure I put a brand new battery in it on day one. It's gotten light use since the purchase, and I never just leave the cord plugged in.

It's only been a few weeks, and the battery needs replaced.

Is anyone else having a similar "experience" with this bass or any of the SBMM basses? I've never had a battery die this quickly in ANY active bass I've ever owned.

I've got an SB14, had it for almost three years. It gets occasional use and I've replaced the battery once. FYI, when I replaced it, the existing battery was still working fine.

Not sure what caused the battery drain on yours. You said you unplugged the instrument cable, so if you did unplug the cable from the bass, that should have turned-off the battery.

Your suggestions prompted me to take a look. I found what appeared to be a small splatter of solder shorting across two different sections of the jack. It was hard to spot, but there it was...

I never would have guessed the bass could work if a couple of leads were shorted; if that was even the real problem.

After cleaning that up, I replaced the battery and plugged in it. It is still working, but only time will tell if I fixed the battery drain problem.

I bought a used one left it plugged in over night and it was dead the next day. But, that was original battery that I bought it with. I put a new one in and have not left it plugged in when not in use. After extensive use....many hours a day for a about 4 months its still going. It does sound like you had some kind of short that kept the battery going.
