Wow, that's rather deceptive if that's what it is. Because they are clearly using terms with very definite meaning to their users.

It could also be like the OMG mode that G&L uses...
“OMG mode” is achieved by adding a 0.1μf capacitor across one of the pickup coils, drastically cutting the high frequencies, which effectively acts like a bass boost. Although both coils are on, they are no longer running equally..."
That's from an article from Bass Magazine.
I kept mentioning G&L because they also use big humbuckers in a passive design. I'll try to find a link to the video I saw where someone pulls out the electronics from a EB short scale. I'll post it if I find it.

As there's no 5-string, do you think tuning BEAD could work?
If so who's making a 5-string set for short scale?
Are DR Strings lurking on TB? They have a BEAD set for long scale (DDT), why not one for short scale.

Don't they have a 45 day price match? Call customer service and see if they'll credit you back the difference.

I plan to get one of these also, but I'm going to have to wait a few months until I've saved up the funds.

They matched the price when I picked it up. I got $87ish back. Also, the bass is very nice and it came with a gig bag.
The tone variations between the pickup modes and the 'boost' are pretty significant. When I've been able to test it out some more I'll post some additional thoughts.

Very nice... looks awesome! Still waiting on mine from MF. (No update so it may be 3.11)

I have not been crazy with the idea of white pickguard on white body, but your photo looks nice. I may still swap out for a different color guard once I get to see the real deal.

Look forward to hearing what you think about how it sounds and feels, once you have a chance to play a bit. I have not picked up or even seen the $2K music man version in person, so I ordered this totally on looks and also on the fact that Sterling seems to have a pretty strong rep based on this forum and other online reviews I've seen. I love the Stingray design and play only short scales, so this seems like a home run for the money.

WD and Pickguard Planet both make short scale Stingray pickguards. Already have an order placed.

Just ordered one for 15% off. I asked the sales "dude" if it would come with a gig bag and he said he didn't see anything suggesting it would, but I hope it does. :thumbsup:

The body looks smaller than the Ray 4. Would you know if that is the case?

I have the MM version, and yes it is. The MM is also ridiculously light. I never weighed it, but it feels in the 6 lb. range. A lot lighter than a Mustang.

Can't wait to hear reviews on this. I want a white one!
