Hey: can you let me know details of the pickguard you ordered? Based on your Pickguard Planet recommendation, I ordered last night, but just received an email that said what I ordered would not fit the Sterling. I could not find a listing under their "Sterling" category for short scale sting ray, so I selected the Music Man Sting Ray Short Scale version (thinking that it would fit)
Did you order from WD or Pickguard Planet? If you don't mind, can you get me specifics or a link that you used so that I can make sure I'm getting the right one? (I'm a bit of a noob, and not the most technical minded!) Below is what I originally ordered:

I ordered the same one you did. I haven't gotten any response from them yet, which is weird since I ordered first. I ordered based solely on the fact that standard full scale Stingray pickguards fit Sterling Stingrays. Couldn't see a reason why they would do something different here.
OK, great- maybe the rep that contacted me is just going by "standard procedures" to be on the safe side. He emailed me back after I replied my thanks and added:
"Sterling is Asian made import. our templates are for USA models only. if you have an Asian made sterling brand, the original will need to be sent to us to duplicate from. unfortunately, no they are not the identical to each other."
So he really was not commenting on any specific knowledge about this particular model. (just in general since they are only designed for American made rather than imports) Since I am a few weeks behind you on this process, please update if you get a chance once it arrives. You are now officially the trailblazing guinea pig on this quest!
Got my invoice from Chandler Music/Pickguard Planet. I never mentioned in my order that it was for the new SBMM version. I'll just go for it. If it fits, great. If not, someone with an EB shorty will get a smoking deal on a Sangre del Diablo guard.
Pickguard Planet basically cancelled an order I put in for a Mustang PJ guard because I mentioned that there were two versions in the wild. They wouldn't make a guard without a tracing, even though I was willing to take the risk.

You were a few minutes ahead of me actually on the pickguard order, haha. They must be processing orders in the order they see them in their inbox. I started typing this before I realized you might have meant that I have my bass in hand.

I've been working 12's and haven't given it a big shakedown yet.
The neck profile is narrow, thin, and tappers similar to a 60's Jazz. The weight on this one is less than 9.5lbs, haven't fish scaled it yet.
The set up was almost gigable out of the box. Tune and intonation were close. Then it quickly changed due to my dry home.
I've turned the truss 1/3rd each day for 3 days and readjusted the bridge. Now I'm close to where I like it without buzz.
Neck grain is not my preferred cut but should be fine on a short scale.
Comparison shot next to a P bodied Jerkweasle.

.And I'm a guy who used to rag on people about bass weight
I still go to the gym, too... my lower back don't seem to care that I go to the gym. It still doesnt want me playing 9 lb basses for 3 hrs a night.I like the baby blue, but am hesitant about the maple board. I may have to get the white one too.
My daphne blue Sterling StingRay arrived today. 
Looks wise and build quality are very nice. The fretwork is better than on my MIM Fender P/J Mustangs. How they can do that and Fender can't is beyond me.
The neck is on the slim side, which isn't my preference, but I can work with it.
The humbucker is very powerful and pushes my amp quite a bit, so I'm going to have to dial something back in order to play at bedroom volumes and not shake the windows - not that doing so isn't any fun or anything.
The gigbag is nice too. Better than I expected.
It also feels light to me, but I haven't weighed it yet so I'm guessing.
Overall I'm impressed. 500.23 Quatloos shipped to my front door thanks to the President's Day 15% off sale.

Musician’s Friend?
Now says it’s shipping 3/11. What do you think of the maple? Is it coated at all? Glossy and slippery? Raw? Sticky?
It's a satin finish. It feels almost like there is no finish at all. Definitely not sticky.
