SBMM Stingray Short scale

Very interesting... now I really wanted to get my hands on them, thanks for the reply btw.

on second look, is it because the bridge is different between the SBMM and EBMM?, the bridge on the EBMM is indeed smaller (they remove the big anchor key on either side of the saddle).
It might be but it really does look smaller. Idk why the pixels happened

Hey: just out of curiosity... what is the wait time they are showing? I ordered the same one from MF on Feb 1st, but the delivery backorder date keeps being pushed back. (from 3/11 to now 4/18)
I haven't received a shipping email yet. I ordered after hours last night. On Guitar Center's website yesterday, it listed "in stock and shipping". Previous to yesterday, it listed as pre-order. Once I receive a shipping date, I'll post back here.

The white one I ordered from GC will be here today.
The blue one was not in stock when I ordered earlier this week. Was interested for the maple fingerboard but it was not a deal breaker.

I'll posts its weight, pics and general impressions tonight.

Not sure how I'm still playing the waiting game! I ordered olympic white from MF on Feb 1st, and the original delivery date was mid Feb. A few weeks later it said 3/11 and then a few days later, it is now showing 4/18.

When I check the GC site, they also show 4/18. I contacted MF and rep assured me they were going by who ordered first. Curious as to when all you guys placed orders.

I don't mind a little wait, I just hate the fact that the day keeps being continuously delayed. I can cancel and re-order elsewhere, but just don't see it available anywhere.

Mine arrived quickly. Ordered a daphne blue one on the 14th and it arrived around 5:00 on the 18th. I called Musician's Fiend and asked if they had any President's Day deals going on and he said 15% off so I paid $500.25 after sales tax with free shipping.

Perhaps the oly white ones are selling out more quickly?

Thanks- yes, I was utilizing the 15% off as well, but perhaps should have called rather than the online order! Over the past few weeks, I have checked both colors and so far those delivery dates have stayed in sync. I am a long time customer of MF, but maybe just got unlucky this time out.

One question I have not seen addressed yet... what is everyone's opinion of the EB Slinky strings these ship with?
For my other 2 guitars, I immediately swapped out my Squire Jag stock strings to D'Addario Flats and my Gretsch Jr Jet to D'Addario round wounds- but the Slinkys seem to have nice reviews in other places I have read.

What are your first impressions of them so far on the Sting Ray- with and without a pick? Also how is the setup, right out of the box?

Set up seems fine but I’m no expert, I like the strings, I have them on my SS jag. I’m going to need to swap one set for rounds though, idk which bass I will pick for that

Thanks- I'm only 2 years in to this journey with no prior musical experience, so still not far from novice. I rely heavily on TB opinions and advice.

Back when I got the Jag, everyone highly recommended getting a proper setup, especially for an inexpensive bass. However, I have heard that both MM and Sterling are usually pretty close to spot on from the get go.

I'm well into the novice class - I have learned or am in the process of learning 27 songs since August, but they're all fairly simple '80s tunes. I can't ad lib at all. I do have some prior guitar experience, but not much. Very sophomorish at best.

I personally don't care for the stock strings on this bass. They feel TOO slinky, which is great for bends for the more talented among us that can do that sort of scthick. However, I'm doing good just to play the right notes.

I meant switch one to flats

I love the difference going with flats on my Jag SS has made... I also replaced the pickups with EMG Geezers (of course on the recommendations from TB), and to my ears it sounds amazing. So for anything I want to play finger style, I use that guy and for faster songs where I want to use a pick, the Gretsch with the brighter round wounds sounds better. (at least for what I am trying to do)

I only play finger style and I love the softer rounder tone so I may commit a crime against bassdom and put flats on the stingray D:
