SBMM Stingray Short scale

Been rough with everything slowed down recently, but today was the third time I took the 'Ray out for practice, and I have to say, I still love it.

It plays like a dream, it sounds great, it drives pedals really well, and that big humbucker in the Stingray sweet spot just has a special place in the mix. I'm still using the stock strings and I like them so much I'm considering just replacing them with the same set when the time is right. Even the full-size gig bag feels like it's amply protecting the bass despite the size difference.

The only thing I'm still tempted to change is the tuners, but that isn't urgent. I did wonder if I'd want to put a preamp in when I first bought it, but nope, the passive sound is great.

I'd love to say this was a GAS killer, but it's actually made me want to get more shorties, it's so good.

My band rehearsed for the first time in over four months, and I brought the new bass. Got many compliments on my sound, and I loved the way the bass sat in the mix. We are a cover band, and it was dead simple to dial in the correct sound for each song with the pickup selector and tone control.
I’ve replaced the factory strings with D’Addario EXL170S nickel wounds (45-100), and I’m very happy with them so far. I also got an excellent pro setup, a new bone nut, and replacement Hipshot ultra lite tuners (thanks to Rick Mullen of Wappingers Falls).
This bass plays easier than any bass I’ve ever owned or played. It’s become my #1, hands down.

Should be pretty soon. Given the success of this bass, I can't imagine them doing a 'Fender' and treating it as a one-off special with a single production run.

I'd love it if there was another run next year with different colours. I'm a big maple board fan, so another choice there would be great - black, shell pink, surf or seafoam green, etc with a maple board could all convince me to get a backup.

Sounds great!

Have you already talked about how they compare?

Just got a reply from SBMM:

"After a long shortage due to the instrument's popularity + a delay in restocking due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Short Scale StingRay has just come back into stock and is currently being shipped out to our officially authorized dealers."

Finally...after waiting for over five months in Canada ;-;

Does anybody knows if the pickguard are retrofit with longscale stingray.
I really dig white stingray with black pickguard so i think i will buy the white model and swap the pickguard for a black one...
The SBMM pickguard is unique. WD make a pickguard for the EB short scale, not the SBMM. The screw and pickup holes line up but the neck pocket area is too small for the SBMM. The taper is wider on the SBMM neck. I bought one and had to file it a lot. If you're not willing to do a lot of hand fitting, you'll need to order a custom one by sending a willing vendor either your pickguard or a tracing of it, per their instructions.
