SBMM Stingray Short scale

Pic of the two Stingrays...
Stingrays - Starry Night and Sterling White - SS.jpg

Someone here had asked about a hard-shell case for the Sterling SS. Mine didn't come with one, but I didn't expect it to. What I pleasantly, surprisingly found is that the HS case form my US made EBMM SS fits it absolutely perfectly. No difference in fit between the two. I don't know what EB gets for these, but I'd guess they would sell one without a bass in it. So there ya go.

I picked up a dropped copper short scale Tuesday night, and it's awesome! The factory setup wasn't great, but after some neck tweaking, saddle adjusting and intonating, it feels and sounds spectacular. I've been playing an EBMM Sterling since 2003, and while this one won't be taking its place, it feels right at home.

The plan now is to refinish the neck with Tru Oil and gunstock wax like I did with a partscaster P Bass project last year (still pretty new to it, but that one came out great), and restring it ADGC for tenor bass madness!

I ended up picking up a Gator Transit series guitar gig bag, and with the strips of padding removed from the top and bottom it fits like a glove.

I am still loving mine. In standard tuning I kind of notice a fretless mwah sound on the D and G strings especially if I also have my MXR BCD pedal on. I bet the C would just be over the top!

This Gator Hard Shell Deluxe Tweed case works well also.

As I search around the web, it looks like Sweetwater gets about $110 for that case...If I'm looking at the right one. Looks like a great fit. Might work for some other SS bass's too.

Does anyone know what Music Man gets for theirs?

Just to be clear that's a guitar case, not a bass case, correct?

Yes, it was $109.99. Fits the short scale like a glove. I actually like it better than my EBMM cases for my two Stingray Specials. They are nice but the outer black casing scratches easily so you have to be careful. The Gator tweed case it much more tolerant to being bumped around. Plus it's downright gorgeous!

So I tried one if the short scales at my local store and completely fell in love. I didnt leave with it but couldn't stop thinking about it, then I saw a used one from last year for $200 less.

I took it home today and the neck is very different from the one I tried in the store and I am sure they are the same model.

The old one was way fatter and had a light finish. The newer one had a neck that felt much like the squier jaguar SS basses and had no finish. I like the newer one much more. Anyone else noticed the difference after one year?

The second bass they sent me seems pretty nice, but I'm not taking the plastic film off yet !View attachment 4218024
Same here... First one went back to GC; -uneven PU, volume boost knob not working. But the second one appears to be right on after about two weeks of light use. So, hopefully, a good keeper... Sound and tone is terrific IMO!

Mojotone 2 band stingray preamp with whatever Seymour Duncan pickup that came from a modulus funk unlimited.

Sounds more like a stingray now.

just got to change strings and do a setup.
Wow Shaggy...that's bold, and beautiful!
I'm all thumbs when it comes to carpentry of ANY kind. So what you've created is way out of my league. That's why I say it's "bold". Looks like it could have come from the factory that way...so it's "beautiful" too.
