SBMM Stingray Short scale

It wasn't buzzing before the new nut install/defret but it is now. It's better than it was in the dead of winter though.

Attempting to adjust technique to compensate for an uneven instrument can be a little frustrating, but developing a light technique is a generally good thing in my opinion. It doesn't come naturally for me.

You're wrong about multiple basses lying around being a negative. :) Please post your results if you go with the defret!

Thanks a lot for your input! Okay I'm worry free now. Have my lurthier booked next week after my new nut is in!

Glad to know playing light is actually a good technique. More reasons for me to defret it now :)

I agree the more basses the better... Unfortunately, I have to move a lot so I'm only sticking to the one bass rule for now. I would love to have both fretted and fretless basses in the future though!

They do make dual bass gig bags.

Closing the loop on my comments above: Sterling sent me a new tuner, which arrived in the mail today. I haven't installed it yet but I did try turning it for a full revolution of the gear to make sure it didn't bind up anywhere. Looks good. I'll install it tonight. Kudos to Sterling for standing behind their product!

It's a bit of a shame Sterling chooses to use such crappy tuners. They sent me 2 replacements also after 3 emails trying to get a response from them, but neither of those they sent are much better than the ones they replaced, they are already loose. They really need to come up with something much better even if it means a price increase. It would still be cheaper and a lot less work for all of us replacing them. I myself refuse to buy another Sterling until that happens.

That maple neck on the white body just kills me every time I see it and the black pickguard is just icing.....
I know, right? I can't understand why the white and maple is not a thing. Or the darkwood and blue!

Does anyone own one of these and a G&L Fallout. I’m thinking that other than the pickup position and a few more frets there appears to be a lot of similarities. Anyone with both can make a comparison as far as tone and playability?
I think at least one person maybe more own it. If no one responds search the previous pages 90-96. I think it’s in that range.

it is helpful...
I think he should have used the volume boost for a better comparison to the OMG mode of the fallout, but was still a good video
I have a USA made Fallout that absolutely love. I’m kinda knocking around for a backup. The obvious choice would be a tribute fallout but also kicking the tires on these guys too.

Yeah… I have an EBMM Stingray short scale and have been kicking the tires of a sbmm short scale to transform into a fretless… the tribute fallout keeps poking its head into consideration too ;-)
The one piece that pushes me away from the Tribute Fallout is that it is physically bigger than I’d prefer. It does sound great.

See I’m the opposite. The size is one of the reasons I love it. It doesn’t feel as cramped as some shorties.
