SBMM SUBs..yes, it's about to become even more confusing

Owned a walnut SUB ray4 for about a week and returned it. I was very pleased with the quality, tone, and playability. The only reason I sent it back was GAS for a classic Ray4 with the roasted neck. Serious firepower from a single H pickup, for sure. Tuners were rough, and knobs were crooked, but otherwise fit and finish were very acceptable. Great starter bass, or beater for gigging, which was my intention. I had purchased a used '01 EBMM ray4 at the same time, but realized the first 12 frets were damaged. So I returned 'em both, and bought the Classic Stingray- black with shell pickguard and roasted neck. This one goes to the grave with me! Will post pics asap.
I'm new here but have been messing around with bass for 15 years. My philosophy is that I play "the cream of the crap" - and this is IT.
Got a "Sterling" style sub for two bills out the door. Prefer the Ray but wasn't gonna pony up more for minor details.
Aren't made of money and want 'that' vibe...or just want something that thumps and funks harder than anything in the price range...can't go wrong here.
Frankly a LOT of the sound's in the pickup. Folks splitting hairs over body density and all that nonsense...dude, no one in your BAND could tellthe diff much less care. Much less the audience. They can tell if you'te paying more attention to your (audible to you only) minor tonal issues than rocking out with your cock out.
I play guitar, sing/scream and do all of my production and recording. Every note played and tweak of a knob. And anyone not trying to feed your GAS will tell you: no one cares about your bedroom tone. You go DI into the board for a reason. And the sound guy has tools just for guys like you.
New jacks, young 'uns, and those on the fence: if you feel minor tonal differences are worth a G note, pony up. If getting 90% of the way there for 25% of the coin (or less depending) appeals to you, WELL worth annoying some GC employees to find out.
If it said "sh*t @$$ bass" on the headstock, it still rocked harder than any of the competing basses in its range.
I played my first gig behind a Hendrix/Fusion influenced guitar player. In front of 1500 people. Despite the nerves, despite the TRULY entry level ugly Yamaha I was saddled with, despite said guitar player playing behind his head, I got more than my fair share of accolades. I'd have kicked your mother down nine flights of concrete stairs to have had one of these for that gig.

Just got my white Sub 4 string via UPS today. Not my ideal color but for $150, I won't argue (used from GC- basically brand new as very few signs of use, still had plastic on the pickguard). I already have the mint green one so I knew what to expect- this one plays great and is set up really low. Nice!
Now, my question is regarding customizing the black pickguard on white - does anyone know a place where I can get ones that would fit the Sub? Attached is something I'd like- I know this one won't fit, but it's a style I'd like. Would the EBMM Stingray pickguards fit at all? Picture is my new bass (picture from the GC posting of the bass) and the style of pickguard I'd like on it.

Right after I got the white one, pictured above, I got a walnut satin finish- it was at a price I couldn't refuse ($149)...

Agreed. The law of diminishing returns goes for basses as well. The S.U.B. rocks!

I think the two coils of SUB PU are series connected.In this case ,2200pf capacitor(musicman default capacitor in the preamp) is not suitable.
If you have the means to do all that, surely you have the means to record the outcome. Please do that if you get a chance.
