scammers?

hey! i wasn't quite born yesterday, but i'm very curious about scammers and how they ruin it for the rest of us. i know paypal is the transaction vehicle of choice, but how, exactly, is it "risky" to use other methods (USPS money order, etc.). i just made an USPS money order offer on a used piece of gear because i can purchase it with my spending cash, and i feel dirty. if i don't ask the seller to ship until the money order clears, what's the risk to him? thanks. oh, yeah... and what the heck is trolling?

Actually, if you are a seller, PayPal offers you no real protection from scammers. The pay it lip service but when it comes down to it, a scamming buyer can easily scam a seller via PayPal, and will get away with it.

I think with USPS money orders, there is the issue of counterfeiting or something. A seller might not feel confident that the money order is authentic. I'm not certain if this is the issue, though. As a seller, I wouldn't mind being payed with a money order, it's just a pain in the butt having to wait for it to arrive. And it would be really annoying if it never arrived and the buyer started accusing me of lying about it (especially if the buyer didn't even send it in the first place).

Trolling is the act of posting something on the interent with the sole intention of getting people to react to it, usually negatively; not because you want to have a legitimate discussion about the topic. Some trollers will hit-and-run, but some trollers will stick around and pretend to be interested in discussinig it, when actually all they are trying to do is antagonize people. It's basically a form of lying.

Trolling is an unfortunate term that came to popularity after I adopted it as a handle many years ago. *sigh*

I was accused of being a troll yesterday for the first time ever. Was an interesting moment for me, since I've been outing trolls for their nonsense for years.
