Schecter Diamond P 5 (NBD)

I traded my Diamond P5 and recently aquired a Squier VMJ5. Great bass but I miss the 35 inch scale. I am selling the Squier and have bought another Diamond P5. The last bass I had was very aggressive. Gonna try some flats this go round.

I didn't have much luck with flats using this bass. If you read back in this thread I talk a little about my experience.

Yeah your dissatisfaction with the flats pushed me over the edge going with nickel lowriders. I think the p5 lends itself to being on the boomy side anyway. Hence my pup adjustment. Works well with my gk800 and 410 set up where we jam. Still a lil boomy on my ampeg b112 at the house. Running through a compressore as well with light compression and driven a little bit. Hoping to add a b7k soon but not going to buy new.

The quest continues ;)

Glad you found something that works for ya!

Got my new DP5 in this morning. Killer bass. This one has a better feeling neck than my last one and isn't as heavy. There's no way I can put flats on this one. Round wounds kill on it! Gonna put some D'Addario's on and let them mellow! :)

I played Schecter in the 80's when it was an American company and they were some really nice basses. I have owned a couple of stiletto elites which were built well and sounded good but they are heavy basses. (except the hardware finish was not holding up, gold rubbed off) Schecter said they knew they had a problem and would send me some new hardware, but never did.
I play MTD now but may try another Schecter in the future

Hello Guys,

I've got a beautiful ( used ) schecter stiletto elite 5 strings. I'm really happy with this bass....so I think to buy a schecter custom p ( 5 strings ).
I would like to know the string spacing a the bridge ??? on the elite it's 17mm But on the pictures, the strings spacing at the bridge for the p-custom looks larger ( 18 - 19 mm maybe ) ?? Is it correct ?

18.75 MM

thanks' for the information

I saw the p custom active 5 strings, but the string spacing looks " closer "

???

I prefer 17mm, not a too wide neck ( i don't like a fender Jazz bass 5 strings for example).

here is the cutom active 5

here the diamond custom p 5

what do you think about the custom active ??

From my experience with both the Schecter DP5 (passive) and the Fender Precision Deluxe 5, and they both feel about the same to me. That is the reason that I don't have either bass anymore. I am like you and I prefer the tighter string spacing.

I am not sure about the ACTIVE version, and I would call Schecter to see if they have the same neck as the passive.

hello,

thanks for your reply ^^ (sorry for my english ).
It's not easy for me to call Schecter, I live in belgium ( in europe, a little country between Germany and france). I will try to contact them by e-mail or via Facebook.

I have a big doubt, when I'm looking the 2 pictures, the bridge looks different on the custom active and the neck looks larger at the last fret on the diamond P custom.

Hope, I'm right, I found the p active so cool.

Of course, your MM is probably better, but it's so exepensive here ( the distributor for europe take a big " profit margin" :-(

Hello,

I got the spec' sheet from Schecter.
the bridge on the p-custom active 5 is SCHECTER CUSTOM 5 'BB105' so

17 mm string spacing....

So I think that will be ok for me with the p-active 5 ^^:hyper:
