Okay so I tried contacting Schecter about the preamp...no response. Does anyone know what the stock preamp is in the Elite 5 so I can try to find one online?

Thanks pal! Pretty soon im going to drop a pair of 40dc's and a obp-3 in my stiletto custom 5. Does anybody have this combo in their bass?
And I can't find a way to get the preamp anywhere. Looks like I might be calling Schecter this weekend since they don't want to email me back.
I called EMG and told them I wanted to change out my pre on my Elite 5 that is a few years old and I took some pictures and sent them to them. The guy told me it looked like a BTS. Don't know if that helps you.
As a side note, I ended up putting a BQS system in with two volumes instead of a blend. I just took out the old eq section and attached the BQC EQ to the wiring harness of the original preamp. It sounds OK but the mids don't seem to work as well as they should. It just doesn't seem to be that much of a difference when I sweep the freq. knob around. Maybe I'm just expecting too much.... I do remember when I had my Ibanez SR885 it had the mid sweep with cut and boost and you could tell a big difference when you move the freq. select knob around. I was thinking maybe the stock pre has some different parts from the real BQS system that I got so maybe I should go ahead and just swap out the whole thing instead of just the EQ section.
Or maybe I'll just try a different pre altogether, I've been trying to save up to get an East/ACQ pre, something about that idea intrigues me....

I called Schecter and talked to them. They're going to replace it for free. The part that went bad was the tone pot so I picked it up from guitar center and I'm going to ship it to Schecter tomorrow. Then, once they send me a new one, I'm going to get it installed (for free thanks to the Bass Tech at Guitar Center). So it looks like everything's going to work out after all!
Good to hear, and another reason to be a Schecter fan. Shorty after I bought my Stiletto, the pre took a dump; the bass was sent to them on a Monday and by the following Friday, Ryan was on the phone to me telling me that the repair was done and asking where to ship it for the return. That, people, is service!
Yeah pretty nice of them. I'm going to ship it tomorrow and hopefully I can get my bass back soon. It's been 3 weeks already!

It's pretty cool to see many people still play schecter basses. I own a schecter stiletto elite 5-string bass and a schecter stiletto extreme 4-string bass and they are my main bass guitars. I play the schecter stiletto elite 5-string bass in my band and I play the schecter stiletto extreme 4-string bass in my brother's band(mainly because of different tunings). in my opinion, schecter makes awesome bass guitars. they are definitely one of the best bass guitars I ever played. I record music and perform live with these basses.
I had a 2008 Fender MiM Jazz bass and it didn't play as good as either of my Schecters. It was more expensive than both of my Schecters, too. That's why I no longer own it. I've played several Schecters at my local shop and I think they are great. Some of the best I've played. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Update: Pre has been mailed so now I'm waiting on Schecter to mail me a good one back so I can get it installed. Hopefully I can get all of this done so I can get my bass back. It's been a month already.
Another update. received the pre from schecter already. They mailed me a new back and it got here fast! Took it to guitar center but their bass tech was sick so he'll have to work on it on Tuesday so I think I'll give them a call Wednesday since I won't be able to pick it up until then anyways.
As I noted a few pages back, I recently bought a Schecter Damien Solo Elite Bass, which came new with EMG HZ pickups. It's an awesome bass, and is a delight to play. That said, I wasn't in love with the sound. Just to see what would happen, I replaced the pickups with Seymour Duncan SSB-4 Basslines (which are passive like the EMG HZ's, and drop-in replacements). It didn't make a huge difference, but I do like the SSB-4's a little more.
Here's a couple of samples so you can decide if this upgrade is something you might want to do:

Update! My bass is back in action. Got the pre put in and it sounds great! Good as new! I'm excited. It's been a month without her and I'm glad to have her back.
