Not sure the BQC "System" will work with their Hz pickups. I believe the EMG preamps that are a part a a "System" only work with EMG low impedence pickups.
Dang, well then I'll send an email tomorrow. I figured this would be the perfect time to change the pre amp to a better one.
I may have one of the oldest Schectors here?!
In 1982, I built a P/J from factory seconds parts. I knew a shop that sold Schector parts, body, necks, etc.
It started out as a Schector P/J, the wood is satin walnut. Backrouted. Modified by myself. Heavy arm and rib contours, shortened the lower bout.
I'm in the re-finishing mode again(3rd time), the first finish was many, many coats of tung oil. Then a couple of years ago, I had a friend spray an epoxy finish on it. I didn't not like the way it turned out.
This time I'm spraying clear laquer.
This is a pic of the only name on the bass.
Originally, it had Schector tapped PU's(SD?). One of them quit on me and now I'm putting Joe Bardens in it. Originally it had 2 three way switches, without vol/tones. It will still have only switches.
Allways wired stereo.
It had and will have again a '71 Fender P neck, fretless, maple/maple.

Quite a few people have. If you search through earlier pages in this thread you'll find a lot of people switch them to Aguilar preamp and put Barts and other active EMG pickups in them.

As a proud owner of a 2009 Riot bass, I'm a bit sad to see that the Riot has been dropped entirely in 2012. I sort of saw it coming with last years Riot deluxe being a "budget" bass, but still, I'd like to have seen the classic Riot brought back with some slick new finishes.
That being said, there's still 5 new models/finishes that I'm absolutely drooling over

I was thinking today, In all the years that I've has the '71 Fender neck, since '76, I've never turned the truss rod!

Killer sound. Simple. Stereo. Control(miss those tapped pu's).
I've seen many double takes from musicians.....they are saying with their expressions... " what is that?"
It is very ergonomic, no head dive. a pleasure to play!

Personal opinion only in saying that I wish it were a little less squared off on the bridge end of the body...and it is so weird not to see knobs. What do the switches control?
Shector supplied at the time replacement parts for Fender type guitars. The body was bassed off of a P. I have changed many of the contours, but not the bridge area. I contoured the rib/arm area extreme...about 1/4" viewed. From the top.
It originally had tapped pu's. The switches were on/off/on. Half/off/full. It is wired stereo. The effects are only one the bridge/treble PU.
I'm not sure what i'm going to do with the other position. I'm thinking, maybe a resistor to cut the vol by about half. Any suggestion as to what size?
Seymour Duncan, says MJ at SD, made the original PU's. Tried twice and failed twice to make them again?!?
They also could not get the part about mounting them without a pick guard and no PU covers. Oh well not a SD bashing!
