the thin necks and close placement of the strings is what i like in a bass. I guess that is why i also like the soundgear series

vertically challenged means short, short also means smaller hands that is why i like thinner necks
Well how tall are you? I've seen people on here in the 5'2" range toting 6+ string 37" scale basses. I mean I'm only 5'9" and mine's a 5 string but I think the neck is just as thick as any standard p bass.
i'm 5'4" maybe it's just me i love the tone of the P bass but i really don't like the way the neck feels I do like the jazz necks though.
Well it was just a comparison. For it being a 5 string it has about the neck of a P.

Bought my first Schecter last month! Diamond P Custom in dark metallic blue. Totally in love with it. Played it for about an hour and a half in the store, then brought it home and played for another three I'd say.
I have the same one. It's one killer catch, ain't it? Nice and heavy!
I'd agree on both.
That gets you #206, and if you Ex-5 is built the same way as my Ex-4, the top is mahogany.

I knew from the first time i picked her up over 8 years ago that there was something special about this one. It was my first real bass, i dont count the first one.
Over the years ive upgraded most every thing about it & done some "slight" modifications to suite my needs.
Its a TONE-MONSTER and absolutely the greatest playing, greatest sounding BEST bass ive ever played. Ive played the high-end alembics too.
"custom" Custom-4 Stiletto
2 emg 35DC pickups & 1 emg 35DC at the top. 24v preamp system.
Kahler Tremelo
DR Ml45 string 45 65 80 100
Ok as far as all those knobs go, its not as complicated as it looks.
1 Volume & 1 Bass/Treble per pickup & 1 kill switch.
The volume knobs lift up to deactivate the pickups.
You can dial in a specific "unique" tone for each pickup & alternate between them or all at once. The difference in tone between the pickups is wonderful.
My fav is the middle with a little bit of the bridge blended in. Sounds almost exactly like Les Claypools main Carl Thompson 4string.
Im a huge fan of Les' work and love the tone he gets. Ive tried to shape my bass after his as close as i can. Since I have the same pickups and preamp he uses and the same Kahler bridge it comes very close.
I also use his exact bass rig wich is an Ampeg SVT5 amp & an Ampeg HLF-Pro 4x10 cab.
Schecters have always been one of my favorate guitars.
I work at a mojor music store & always try to recommend Schecter to anyone beginner & up looking for a new axe!

That is one awesome bass. Three 35DC pickups, wow...If you ever need to to just give it away because it's causing you problems, I'm here!

Its really hard to explain to people without playing it,, but the bass is just so effortless to play & responsive & tight that after playing it for a while other basses are tough to play

I am a Houston firefighter and the Firehouse saloon is a very popular place to play in Houston. It is owned by a couple of Houston firefighters. We were playing a benefit for a fireman. We are still trying to get booked to play there again but there are some big names that play there so we still have a ton of work to do.
Ah...that explains your user name in general, then. And I salute you and your fellow firefighters...I did a summer stint w/CDF and was part to a small mountain community VFD when I was in high school, and that was enough.
