Schecter Stargazer: New version?

I’m a Schecter fan and I’m sure Rick fans will like the pickup placement of that neck pickup, however it’s inherently going to have a very “scoopy” sound. I’m sure you can dial in some mids, but it’s not exactly the same. I’m sure Schecter was shooting for something different than the more “contemporary” positioning that they use in most models.

I do love the revamping of the styling (albeit mostly the pickguard) - well, the neck pickup looks like it has been moved a fair bit forward towards the neck.

To me, yes I do get some Ric-like vibes, but it's still unique unto itself.

Interesting they used their own house pickups this time around rather than EMG's of the previous years.

Hard to comment on the tone when they aren't out yet & who know how the pickups might be voiced. 🤷‍♂️

The switching & coil tap options seem to be reminiscent of what was done on the Apocalypse model - which was probably the most versatile passive bass from a tone-shaping perspective I've ever owned. I truly would forget that was a passive instrument, and I'm sure this will be similar in that regard.

Very interested in hearing sound demos when these things start to make it into the wild.

The white one is already calling my name.

People made fun of Jackson's fake Rickenbacker the X Series and yeah it was kind of ugly to some, but not to me. But after seeing this I forget that bass... this is the next best fake Rickenbacker look!

I hope they do it in Fireglo... I'm in love I don't care for the Rick sound but I love the look... very in love
And the sound I can not wait to hear!
People make fun of the Jackson for good reason...it looks nothing like a Ric.
Take away the pickguard, pickup cover and bridge and this is what you have.
Doesn't look anything like a Ric.
Other than that, the Stargazer looks great even with the new pickguard.

That Schecter has me gassin'....

The detail on the Jackson I'll never gel with is the hockey stick headstock, didn't like 'em in the 80's, like 'em even less now...

I really like the placement of the neck pickup, but I don't understand why they didn't shift the bridge a corresponding amount as well.
Demo on Instagram sounded very scooped, and I don't see how one would avoid it sounding so if both pick-ups are on... which if they're not, it'd sound like a passive stingray with weaker transients given the pole design.

In other words: What am I missing here?

P.S.
I could also do without the pickguard which I'm not sure what non-aesthetic function it fills, but that's subjective and whatnot.

Oh, man...
I really, really wish I hadn't looked at this. The first Stargazer's weren't available as a lefty; much as I liked the looks of them? As usual... "no bass for you". Now?
I just finished looking at the white, left handed 4-string Stargazer... and I want it. Even though every spot in my Herd is filled. Even though that is Supposed to mean "NO MORE BASSES FOR YOU! 27 BASSES IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!!" And, even though I know that I shouldn't call my Sweetwater Sales Engineer tomorrow morning - and have him order me one.
Even though I know I could write a check for it - with a case - without a single qualm... Even though there really isn't room for another bass in this little house. I still want one... :rollno: :rollno:

There were at least a few lefties made- although (other than the lovely Crimson Ghost 4 I bought new back in 2009) I never saw more than 1 or 2 for sale, and haven’t seen one in ages.View attachment 7073001
Well...
Not the first time I've been wrong - probably won't be the last, either. All I can say, is that I can't recall seeing - or hearing - any mention of left handed Stargazers. And, if I had? I'd have bought one, quick as a bunny. Oh well... :rollno:
