School dress code

Around 15 years ago, the school i was in tried to instore school uniforms!

80% of the school went on strike! We went to school but instead of going to class we just sat in the yard, it lasted 3 days!
By the end of the second day we had news crews and helicopters around our school!

The uniforms where never seen and everybody was happy!

Good times!

That must have been the week they taught the difference between "were" and "where."

No idea what a pencil skirt is, but skinny jeans? so what! Holy jeans, as long as the holes aren't in the butt or crotch.

Screw that how about banning saggers???

Sagging is the worst!! I can't tell a kid to pull his pants up when he gets on my bus, it's a touchy topic and it's like...hell, I don't want someone's boxers showing plus some kids have them down so far it's a safety hazard, they can trip.

so if they wanna ban, they should ban sagging.

As for uniforms, hell no..my kid was at a private school for a year, the biggest pain was finding the uniforms and they were expensive! fooey on that. parents just need to be doing their job and watch what their kids wear.

Ok i see pencil skirt piccie...thats silly banning them, it looks like office wear to me.

Uniforms are somewhat classy. I don't really like dress codes, but rules are pretty much what's left against problematic students and dumb parenting.

It would be discriminatory to impose common sense, y'know.

IIRC, 'sagging' was banned from my school when I was there...if not, then at the very least teachers/admins weren't afraid to tell kids to pull their damn pants up...lol. Also, most (if not all) kids that wear skinny jeans 'sag' them.

A Facebook riot is not cool at all.

Because I have worn Levis, Band T Shirts, since seventh grade, I have been through the same thing.

I switched schools because everyday, a teacher would check my wrists infront of the class, to make sure I wasn't cutting myself.

I wasn't one of the "Emo" kids, I was a music dork.

I even wore (and still do) bowling shoes to school. How lame is that?

Pencil Skirts? WTH is wrong with them?

Damn, that's hot. :D

Most schools have some kind of dress code. They are typically pretty benign. At my high school, we couldn't wear shorts. Once in a while, the adults go overboard and reveal their most comical fears and prejudices, for everybody's amusement. Once in a while, the kids invent some loophole that challenges the adults to come up with new rules. Once in a while the fashion industry invents something so gross that the school is tempted to ban it, rather than simply let it peter out on its own. Life goes on.

I think all schools should have a dress code. All kids should wear a uniform. Would save a heck of a lot of stress for the teachers, the parents and the kids. Kids get teased all the time for the clothes they wear by other kids in school, good or bad. It would especially help those kids who's parents aren't rich enough to buy the latest trends in clothes for their kids. Everyone would be on even ground. When I went to school, we had a dress code. I had to wear a skirt or dress up until about 5th grade, and then after that we weren't allowed to wear obnoxious t-shirts or cut off jeans. Kids today have learned that they can get away with anything they like and no one will do anything. A lot of this is due to the parents complaining to the schools. Well they really need to work on respect from grade school on up. I have several friends that are teachers and they tell me a lot of what goes on and how frustrating it can be to deal with kids who don't dress appropriately.
