Scored A Gently Used Mike Dern P-Bass

Pics...... my new (for me) Fender '50's P-Bass. Not a scratch, ding, or blemish. Basslines pickups and originals in the case.

And since you apparently need to be in your 50's to purchase the bass, it was a good trade because I am in my 50's.

2 things......I actually wanted the '50's first & foremost, but it didn't look like one was going to come in at GC. (I mostly buy used.) So as soon as I pull the trigger on the Dirnt, guess what....yep.

The second thing was that I could not get the action as low as I like on the Dirnt. My understanding is that Dirnt himself prefers high action and the bass was built that way. I'm not totally convinced of that information, but for me, the relief and bridge adjustments weren't enough to get the low action I want.

Plus the fact that you must be over 50 to purchase the '50's bass, it made me feel, well....... special ;)

i had noticed that about the action as well, and i decided to try and give it a setup and fix that, pulled the neck to adjust the truss rod... and it's broken. guess guitar center didn't go over this one very well, and mine was probably not so "gently used."

guess this one will be going back as well, unless they want to credit me to the point where it's worthwhile either getting the neck repaired, or replaced.

bah. i was looking forward to this too.

what does mystery bass thread survivor means?

Click on the link in "dlegault";s sig, its 22 pages (+/-) of hilarity from back in January.
Arguably one of the funniest threads EVER posted here. Inspired several memorable lines that people now use as signature quotes.

I, too am a Survivor!! Well, in my case, I'm officially a "Support Group Member"
