Haha, thats what I've always thought too. I would love to drink expensive liquors, but I just cant justify the expense right now.

Don't think it is much more expensive (for me anyways). The bar I work in started selling it in place of Gordons about 3-4 years back, not long after I started there, and sold it at the same price .

Dare say that doesnt mean much when it comes to the on the shelf price of the bottle though.

If you are going to do something, you might aswell do it right!

Single malt is where it's at when it comes to scotch! I'm fairly new at the acquired taste and have been enjoying Bunnahabhain from Islay for a while now, but decided to give this little guy a try and it's held up pretty well! It's my second bottle, but I'll be going back to Bunnahabhain.

Same as you, i still cant drink much more than a glass, i'm still not used to that feeling in my chest, i like it though!

Anyone have Oban? How's that? i have to special order scotch because the liquor stores around here are woefully lacking in the selections. Vodka is the big thing around my town.

Just got a bottle of Laphroiag. wow...weird. Thought I'd try something from one of the Isles. You really can taste the "sea air" in it. Almost tastes like antiseptic mouthwash...Ha! Not sure if I like it. It is really different that the Spey-side malts.

Maybe I'll stick with the Highlands for a while!!! The Balvenie Doublewood is doing me right for now.

Talisker is my next at bat!

Yeah...The Laphroiag is not my style. After a few tries...no deal. Just too ... weird. For lack of a better word. Really smokey/peaty/salty. Very strong.

However.... just tried a mini bottle of Glenfiddich 18 yr. Holy Moses! Smooth...with more "ooo"s than I can count! Hail the Speyside malts!

I'm really glad that my introduction to Laphroaig came in the form of a bottle I chose at random. Not at all happy when I first got back to the house, but after a week of trying to just simply drink it up, I realized one night that my palate had taken an unexpected liking to it and it's among my favorites now.
Possibly due to the previous experience with the Laphroaig 10, I loved Ardbeg 10 immediately.
