Scratchy Justin Chancellor Wah?

I was super excited to try this pedal out and really love it overall. However, I had to return my first unit because it sounded like a scratchy record with some hissing when you first engage the Wah. I thought I had a defective one. Got a replacement unit and it’s doing the exact same thing. I’m wondering if there’s a problem with the latest production run of these. I haven’t been able to find any similar reports from anyone who got one of the initial ones back in the fall. Anybody else have this experience? FWIW, I’ve tried different power (at different facilities), battery only, different cables, different heads, different cabs and different basses. Thanks!

Is the fuzz engaged or off when it's doing this? Check the Delay knob, tiny little knob between the fuzz button and the expression. If that's set to a long delay it can sound a little weird when transitioning from off to on.
Also, this would be more while playing than what you're describing, but because this pedal turns off in the home position, if when you're rocking you go toe up too high, it will deactivate the wah and is especially noticeable if the fuzz is set to always on, because it will go from the fuzz-wah sound to just the fuzz sound, which is quite different.

Hey, thanks for the input. Unfortunately, it does it on all settings - fuzz on/off/always on, wah/UK filter, bypass at any position and a variety of settings for tone and volume on all. I’m kind of at a loss on this.

Revived post. I'm also at a loss, but with a Geezer wah with same issue. Used it a few times, didn't really notice it was scratchy, really liked it. Put it away in the box for a few years and just took it out again, and yep it's unusually scratchy, for it being basically new. Tried swapping and isolating all usual suspects, cabels, speaker cabs, amps, bass, battery vs power supply, room locations, power outlets, friends houses, nothing changes, problem persists. Opened it up, tried some adjusting of the Q and delay trim, no difference. Made sure all screws and nuts and connections inside were secure, all seems tight. then attempted to spray some deoxit into the pot, but I think the pot is sealed and none made it inside, no difference was made regardless.
I have yet to find a replacement pot for this type, it has 6 legs rather than 3, and is mounted on a small extension board. Looked around online and it's not even available on the Dunlop website.
So I sent an email to the customer support at Dunlop, hopefully they can provide me something, other than telling me it's long out of warranty.

I had the same issue with JC wah. I returned it and put my jim dunlop cry baby bass wah back on the board and I added fuzz so I got the sound
