SD Antiquity II Pride vs. Fender 60's

You can use 500k or 250k pots, both will work. The 500k pots will be brighter sound, and the 250k pots will sound warmer. The 250k Fender pots will work just fine.
As for the cap, just run down to radio shack and get a .047uf cap. They are under 5 bucks.

Ok, thank you. Another question, I've hooked it all up but am getting nothing. I had active EMG's in there before and I'm trying to use the same input jack, is that going to work or should I get a different input jack too?? And where does the ground run to? It's connected to the bridge, then to??? Thanks for the help all. Here's a couple of pics, if you see something wrong please point me out, thanks:

It looks like you have the bridge ground connected to the tip, and the positive hooked to ground. You also have a lot of cold solder connections, that could give you problems down the road.
If something's getting bled to ground, you get no signal. Just follow the wires carefully and make sure + stays connected to + and - to -. Don't worry, getting no signal happens all the time when you're starting out soldering stuff. It still happens to me when I'm wiring stuff up! Just be patient and methodical.
And for capacitors you can use anything from .047 to .1 uF. Smaller than that (e.g. .022uF) is usually too trebley for bass although not uncommon for guitar. The value of the cap makes a difference essentially in the rolloff point. Loosely, a larger value cap (e.g. .1uF) will cut out more mids and give you more of a really low-pass dub tone whereas a smaller cap will leave you with more high-mid content. Most basses use a .047uF and that's a great value.
If you want to go all the way vintage style, grab some paper-in-oil caps. I put a .063uF PiO cap in my p-bass with the SD antiquity and it is smoove booty for days. If you want more grind then stick with a ceramic cap. Note that the tone differences from different cap material may be completely in your head!

Yes, my grounds were all ran wrong. I ran all my grounds with a little help from someone and it's all good now. Thanks for all the help! I appreciate. Now to go play em really loud
one thing I notice is the lower volume from them but that's expected. I had some really hot EMG's in there before.
Well I got the Antiquities in the P, then I took them back out after a week and some live jam time and put my EMG's back in. They were nice but I much more enjoyed the bite of my EMGs. Can anyone recommend a different pup since I dont really dig the SD's but prefer the active EMGs over them? I am going to put the Antiquity II's up for sale on TB later so Im hoping I will get enough out of them to try something different. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
Don't sell it - put it up for trade first and you might get a better deal
Pickups are very subjective. I like Delano. Many swear by the BL P-46.

There's no "the Antiquities". SD makes the original Antiquities, now called I, and the A5 Antiquities II.
People often buy the "II" because they can't imagine that Alnico 2 is any good. Except that in the space of boutique pickups with hand-treated pickups (aged, degaussed, whatever) the specific kind of Alnico means nothing.
There wasn't anything wrong with the Ant1, in fact they are brighter than the SPB-1, it's just that a void had to be filled for A5 only buyers.
Anyway, the Ant1 has plenty bite but it's a bit more trebly than the SPB-1. The SPB-1 is about as close to a perfect punchy P bass pickup I have seen.

The Fender 62 p with .047 225P produce clear hi-mid from my index finger which i dont like.But 62p pup really string to string balance sound.
Stock pup & 0.068 uf cap less crank.
I think sometime the colour of tone cause by our different kind of finger too......

Hey all. So after a few months I finally got my hands on some 60's fender reissues. I'll probably be getting them mid next week. Does anyone knows where I can find a wiring diagram for the fender pups? A link hopefully? I have some EMG-PAX's in my P now so I'm going to try to hook up the fenders. I may be back here later next week for help if I need it. Hopefully some of you that commented earlier in the thread can be of some assistance if needed. Thanks all!!
To anyone, what caps do you use with your fender 60's reissues?? I was thinking 250 but I've heard 500 may be better. What's the difference?? Why do you like/choose the one you have in your bass??
