Does anyone know how these compare to the 60's fender pups? I want to grab the fenders but these sound like they may be up the same alley and Im in a position where i can only get them from a certain site and they dont have the fenders. If I went with the SD's would they be a lot like the fenders? Btw, I'd be replacing the active EMG's I have in my squier P with them. Thanks.
I haven't used the Antiquities, and I probably never will because of the relic look to them. I try and keep all my basses new looking, and don't want an old beat up looking pickup in them. I definitely wouldn't pay double for them vs the SPB-1s. I would highly recommend the Fender 62s though. Those pickups sound fantastic. The Duncan SPB-1s are great as well. If I were spending the money the Antiquity II's cost, I would get one of these, and have the best sounding Precision pickup on the market IMHO.
I don't mind the relic look at all. Actually I like it. But the I'll check out the SB1's though too. Again, I'm limited to one site to get them from, prymaxe. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well I got the antiquities. I didn't really have a choice. Hopefully I'll like them. I'd still like to know what the difference is between the two. I was reading a little here on TB and some say they are quite alike yet a little different in ways. Obviously. So if anyone has more info/opinions please post, thank you.
So you can try them and if you like them great. Or you can try to ebay them and flip them for cash to buy the Fender Original 62. I have not tried the SD. I had some of their guitar pups and liked them. I love my Fender 62 original.
Those were my thoughts as well considering the price for the SD's are almost double what the fenders cost. Almost anyways.
I have the SD Antiquity (not the Antiquity II) in my American Std. P and it sounds incredible. No experience with Antiquity II but if it's anything like the Antiquity I I don't think you'll be displeased with it based on what I've read.
Thanks for the input. I hope so. I've been wanting to replace my EMG's for so long. I like them to a certain point but I surprisingly get lost in the mix with them. I've always had trouble getting a mid grind or thump with them. I've recently found out that are pretty mid scooped which makes perfect sense to me now. They are also a very hot set of pups. That's my only worry with the antiquity II's since they're passive, that I'll have volume issues. But from the many passive users I've heard from on TB, they can't all be wrong. I'll report back to everyone after I get them in my P. I'm really excited. I've had the EMG's in there for over 10 years so I'm looking forward to breathing new life into it. I'm ready for something different.
Just in case I have trouble with the wiring diagram they send with the antiquities, does anyone know where I can find them online and "how to" sort of? I looked a little bit but couldn't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Seymour Duncan used to have all kinds of wiring diagrams on their website. I don't know if they still do, though. EDIT: just checked, yes the SD wbsite still has the wiring diagrams. Regardless I'm quite sure the one that comes with the pickup will be correct anyway. As far as a how-to guide goes, have you tried YouTube?
I put together a p-bass last year. '64 neck, '65 body & electronics, '59 bridge, Repro guard & aluminum guard shield. While looking for the "right" pickup, I ordered & dropped in the Aniquity II P-bass pickup. Sounds just like a vintage P-bass pickup. All the right tones & vibe. This is now my favorite bass. I've stopped thinking about finding the "right" pickup.
What pots should I get for the antiquities? It's saying 250 in the instructions. Can I go 500 with them?
I got the cap that came in a fender package with a 250K pot. It says 250H on it. That'll be good correct? Another question that I'm pretty sure I know the answer to but I want to make sure is, a 250K pot is a 250K pot right? Like it doesn't matter if its going in a guitar or bass right? It's just the pot pushing whatever sort of pup it's going to correct?
