Sea Machine on bass

Curious to hear a demo of the EarthQuaker Devices Sea Machine Mega Chorus on bass. Can't find any demos on YouTube apart from Juan using it with a Hoof Reaper.

Anyone using one or have tried one out? Looking for some feedback.

Much appreciated,
Mr Tourniquet

I just felt it was a little cold/dark, tone wise. It's a cool pedal, just not the sound I was looking for at the time... Who knows, if I tried it again, it could be a different story. I can be fickle that way... If it was a cheaper pedal, I might have been inclined to sit on it until my tastes changed, but I moved it on for other pedals.

Interesting. It looks like mine should be here this week. I'm looking forward to getting a sense of it for myself!

Yeah, maybe it will be different for you... For me, it was like: "Hey, where did my tone go?!?!?... Into the deep dark depths of the Sea Machine... That's where".

Huh. Now, was this a V1 or a V2? I'm not sure if the circuit changed or if it was just the box. So was it tone that it impacted, or was it more of a definition/blurring thing? (I know, that's a silly thing to say about a chorus)

Hard to be specific, since I'm going on memory alone (as I no longer have the pedal to fire up for reference)... My gut says it was a tonal thing... Kind of like how some pedals are better for guitar than bass... You dig? I can't say which V it was... I was not aware there is more than one version.

Well, I'll be sure to report back here once it comes in. I'm typically quite picky with my choruses, I like them to be warm and lush but not blurry, if that makes sense. I'll see how this fits onto the spectrum. :)

I wouldn't say beneath the waves, but more riding on top of them as they splash over top of you from time to time...definitely not drowning, but also not sitting high and dry above them on the deck of the catamaran. ;)

I agree with some of the above posters, at least as to the V1. It is an amazing pedal and great at what it does -- I would love to keep one around for experimenting if money was not an issue -- but I need my main chorus pedal to leave the bass' tone less colored and have more high-end "chime" for purposes of sitting in the mix. The Sea Machine is more about dark, wobbly, sea-sick goodness.
