Sea Machine on bass

Ok, so first impressions of the Sea Machine - I definitely get the whole dark tone thing, or at least that is what it seemed like when I brought it to practice tonight. There is clearly a ton of things that this pedal can do. For me it wasn't a "plug and play", and that is why I'm reluctant to say much more beyond that it sounded dark, and even with that, maybe with some different settings it could be less that way.

I don't have much else to say right now, but give me a few days of messing around with it on my board and I'll come back for a more in depth review.

So, yeah, the Sea Machine after a couple of months of using it...

Well, as I noted above, my initial impressions were that I understood the "dark tone" comment, and I'll stand by that. I don't find this to be a sparkly or chimey chorus, but then again I don't have any of those aspects to my bass tone or my amp, so it could be just my setup.

The pedal is crazy flexible. Funny thing is one of the reasons that I traded for it was because I thought it would be more straightforward than the SA Orbital that I had before. That was a completely incorrect assumption. There are some very powerful controls and capabilities with this pedal. The analog LFO side of it alone is a very flexible chorus, and what I ended up settling on was using that "side" of the pedal the most. There is also the digital delay "half" of it, and it can get pretty wild. Initially I was being too liberal with using the digital delay side controls, and this resulted in getting all sorts of wild, whacked out tones, probably because I didn't fully understand what I was dealing with. Once I did, thanks to actually reading what the controls were :D I opted to keep the digital delay line mostly off. Used like this by me, it sounds good.
