Seattle Bass Shopping???

A +1 on Bassnw
I wouldn't waste your time at any of the GC's around here with the possible exception of the one in downtown Seattle, the rest are crap.
If you get across Lake Washington to Bellevue stop by Mike Lull's shop he always has a few basses and a couple of amps in his showroom - Great guy too!

I went to BassNW very recently, and it was a totally disappointing experience on several levels. I won't catalog it all here because I know BassNW has its defenders here; but as far as I'm concerned, there was only one positive thing about that place: their wide selection of high-end ($2K to $4K) basses.

Well, all I can say is that their online adds seem a bit deceiving to me. I bought a used bass from them online, and though it was as advertised, i wasn't completely satisfied. I wouldn't take their advice for buying anything.

Wow I live in Olympia and I did not know Bass NW was in Seattle.
Cool, now I have a reason put up with I-5 traffic.
There is a store called Capitol City Guitars in downtown Olympia that has a small section of about 20 some odd different basses including some new G&L tribute L200 and SB2, Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingrays, Warwick thumbs, DanElectro.
They also have an assortment of some really cool used basses such as Shechters, Ibanez, Fender, you never really know what he has...oh and did I mention he has some of the best prices on basses I have EVER seen.
I love doing business with them..jeez I sound like a schill..but really, good service and prices is hard to find these days.
Good luck with all that.

I would have to agree with you to a point. After seening the website I drove from Spokane to Seattle just to go there and to go the Experience music museum. It wasn't nearly as big as I thought it would be, looking at the photos and most of the basses that they had were out of my price range. But they were very friendly and had alot of basses that I wouldn't be able to check out here on this side of the state.

The best part of the trip was getting a wrist band so we could go from bar to bar without paying a cover charge each time. There were alot of cool local bands to check out.

After you get past the border:

I-5 Exit 256 - Bellingham - Take Meridian St south - Mojo Music will be on your left. Cool Place to whet your appetite with new and consigned gear.

I-5 Exit 230 - Burlington - Hugo Helmer Music is a big yellow building. Can't Miss it.

I-5 Exit 181 (?) - Lynnwood - Guitar Center. Right next to Highway 99.

I-5 Exit 165 (?) - Seattle - Bass Northwest. The mecca. Off Yesler Way.

Have fun!

All in/around the downtown area:

American Music
Guitarville
Bass NW
Trading Musician
Emerald City Guitars
Phil's Guitars
Guitar Center

Was in AmerMuz Seattle a few weeks ago, Bass section is a joke.

Stick with Bass NW unless you like being in the left handed red-headed stepchild (trading musician is pretty good) section of the store. Not the biggest store on the planet, and not the best variety, but at least it's a bass store with more than a handful of basses and one or two amps. And not a GC.
