Seattle hang out?

That would be Brad! and based on that pic, I seriously need to be working on the waistline and posture... Yikes! at least the new sideburns counter balance it all :D

Thank you for bringing me up to speed, Mal. And my apologies to Brad for not getting a chance to visit. There were just too much incredible gear there. Kinda like a candy store.

Maybe I need to grow sideburns to balance me out.:help::D but I don't think that would help me.

Cool stuff! Glad to see we could finally get a Seattle GTG put together - thanks Greg!

Highlights for me were Jerry's fretless Conklin. I'm not a fretless player at all (even the Rob Allen fretlesses don't do much for me, call me crazy) but that bass had the perfect tone and playability for a fretless. Super deep and warm, but still punchy and well defined. Great neck and setup too.

And Rene's '70 P-Bass. Super sweet, classic P-bass tone and just the right amount of mojo/wear.

And the guy (I suck at names) with the Warwick SSII. I used to have one just like it, but sold it since I don't like the narrow string spacing as much. But they just have an amazingly thick lower-midrange growly tone that I love, and crave! Makes me think about a 4-string SSII, since the 4-strings have wide string spacing... :ninja:

And of course, Charlie's homemade rig is still awesome! Ever thought about doing a mini battery powered rig (ala the PJB Briefcase)? :D

What a crazy week - I didn't even think to look for this thread. It was really great seeing folks again and meeting a whole bunch of new guys.

My top fave was Jerry's Rob Allen - I just have to find one now! I'm not that good on fretless but that played and sounded great.

I got to play through an AccuGroove cab for the first time, it sounded wonderful.

The one theme that kept being repeated in all the discussions I had was how much really great gear exists now. Everyone is trying to get only what they really need and resist GAS as much as possible, and none of us is completely successful!

Brad, I wish that I had known that was you. I think from now on I'm going to bring those dorky "Hello my name is" tags. I missed out getting a chance to spend any time talking to Eric, too.

One of the guys that I should have PM'd was Walt (aka Nightbass) to make sure that he was coming. For so many years we have communicated about bass gear and life in general. He's even been down in my part of town but we've never met.

I actually did ping Walt, who I've also communicated with a lot. He wanted to bring some very interesting pieces along, but unfortunately it didn't work out this time. There are a few other guys up there I wish I had alerted to the GTG too. All the more reason to do another one!

I found out after the GTG that LP75 (Larry) currently has the bass seat in what used to be one of my old bands, albeit under a different name. Pretty cool...

I'm planning on doing another one out in Hood River sooner than later, although I think it'd be nice to see one in Portland proper before I do that.

No, wait. You're supposed to drink more coffee, and that gets your heart rate going faster and then you burn more calories. That logic follows, right? :D

I shudder to contemplate life without caffiene ... actually it's more like I get the shakes and do my Ray Charles in need impression ... or is it the Joe Cocker having a seizure impression - sometimes it's tough to tell them apart :D either way - no morning coffee ... is a bad, bad thing ...

Looks like the Tacoma based owner of the Avatar cab comes down to Stumptown for work on occaision so that looks like the best bet!
