Just another update, been very busy with bands and family.
So I made some old school shaping in the four stringer:

Little progress in the sixer I need to buy a router bit which I cant find in my city, but been making some fretboard work, I made the nut slots:

And side glow dots:

They dont really look great with light but when dark the thing improves a lot...

So just a little eye candy for you bass freaks:

Been workin little on this project so I got some new pictures for you.

The fingerboard is glued:

The pup routing is still dirty I really need to improve this:

Control cavity routed, heel carving almost complete, plus I plugged one tuner hole, when making the hole with drill press it moved badly:

And fretwork in progress, I radiused the fingerboard to 16", then leveled following the string paths, then resawed the fretslots to the final depth. I glued them with hide glue, but when filing the endings three frets failed so glued again with epoxy.

The neck shaping is almost done, 21mm first fret 24mm on 12th. When is completed I will make a fret leveling and recrowning.

Work on the sixer is stopped I´m waiting to receive new carbon fiber, I´ll let you know

So finally got the right carbon fiber for the sixer. Also had a hard time taking the decision of what to put inside the neck, but with all the parts in my hands I put two carbon strips in the center and two truss rods:

Then routed the headstock design, and tapered the neck with bandsaw:

The hidden scarf joint went perfect, there is no glue line at all
Thickness sanded the wings and put all together:

Long time since my last post...
Lots of things happened since last update.
Been for long time without a place to work, but I moved to another house, and now got a room for instrument experimentation.
The first thing I did was a workbench:

I made it entirely of recycled wood, only spent 10 euros in varnish and some screws
Then I made this Ngoni (tenor kora)

And finally continued the work with the basses:
The sixer got some routing, fancy flatsawn wenge pickup covers and fingerboard glued:

I´m lovin it, he´s starting to look like a coffee table

The four stringer got less attention but its frets are now leveled and recrowned, so I made a nut and installed some hardware and strings, just to check everything is straight:

And yes everything is in its place, Im liking the acoustic tone of the instrument, I´m not into the tonewood thing but I believe in the acoustic tone theory whatever it means... strong fundamental and loud harmonics, no harsh treble. Im very happy with the G string, very well rounded, I bet the short scale has some to do with this.
Lets see what happen when electronics are installed.

Almost ready:

Got some phase issues, when both pups are on, but Jworrell is taking care of it.
I sealed the grain with shellac and pumice, some extra shellac and then six coats of water based polyurethane applyed with a sponge.
As soon as I get a new neck pickup Ill post some audio.

Almost forgot this thread...
Been gigin´a lot, rehearsing and started repairing guitars and basses in my small shop...
I finished the bass in february

I recorded this in winter, passive mode neck 100% bridge 30% tone roll off about 50%
