For 13 years in a row, Mac users are more satisfied with their
computers than Windows users. That sums it up. Make all the
excuses you want for Windows PCs but, in the end, they suck more.
That means nothing. Pay more for a product and you are a lot more likely to rate it higher to justify your purchase.
These are also the same sheep that camp out in front of shops for 3 days to be the first to get their hands on the next product released. Windows users have too much sense to do that. Pragmatism over fashion.
To me, Macs are the fashion statement of the computer world. The badge elitism - look at me, look what I can afford.
For you maybe. Personally I don't really consider the opinions of the masses, since most of them are are barely able to operate a computer, much less make an informed opinion about them. Combine this with what others have said about people saying they're more satisfied with expensive purchases to justify it and the nearly cult like, borderline psychotic devotion to their Apple products, that "stat" doesn't really mean much at all for me.
I spend a lot of time on computers, since my job has me designing websites, I game a lot, and I build/repair them for friends and family for a little extra $$ on the side. I've got a personal PC that I put together for MUCH less than the price for an equivalent iMac at the time I built it, with more processing power, more ram, a better video card, and more HD space. I've had 0 problems with it over it's 3 year life. I can, and have, upgraded components when it's been time to upgrade, and can do so without having to take it to a specialty store and have some 19 year old kid that knows less about computers than I do do it for me.
Pretty easy when the operating system is practically a toy with over 3/4 of software made for PC incompatible with it.
Oh wait, you guys run Wine to stay compatible, right?
Yea, that's efficient....
You may see PC as inconvenient and "sucks", but there are some users that can run their systems with some knowledgeability and say more than the childish cry of "IT JUST WORKS!!"
Do you have any idea how silly that sounds? The computer is just doing what YOU told it to do. It doesn't just say "MOVE OVER!! YOU'RE GETTING ****ED!!".

Let me add something then.
Macs are rarely used (by comparison to PCs) for work. They're recreational computers and as such they are a significantly smaller portion of the market. You can say all you want about PCs sucking but e truth in that is you are ignorant of what they can do and are comparing a lower tier of PCs to something you paid more for.
If you want to play that game, I have a couple of sgi workstations to compare to your cheapo Mac and I can tell you that the Mac would suck more but in doing so I would be slightly delusional.
Your Mac absolutely blows at 3D compared to a PC. The fact that software like Maya is on the Mac is absolutely laughable. Because apple controls all the hardware and software on the Mac, 3D cards are two generations behind PCs in terms of graphics. So in both professional 3D and gaming 3D the Mac is like the computer on the short yellow bus.
Additionally, in the professional world, a lot of software just will not run on Mac. I had a guy at work ask when we would be using Macs. I laughed at him and said when our payroll can run on Macs, then that might be the day. He was honestly shocked. Sure, Office runs on a Mac but other than salesmen and students the rest of the world needs other apps for their job. Even our SaaS stuff in our service department will only work on PCs.
So unless you have a valid reason to come into a thread and start trolling with ignorant malarkey, I think everyone would appreciate you refraining from being a dirty troll.

Well, we employ a few (37 to be exact) highly talented and regarded graphics professionals. Of that lot, only two of them use MACs. Those two are very recent graduates/new hires. And when you get down to the business end of, well, running a business, virtually everyone at our firm prefers the PC while at work. And believe me, I've offered to switch to MAC numerous times. Yet, as a rule, they ALL decline. It's not a money issue with us. It IS a comparability issue with us, and more, as around 90% of my staff are "power users" they all see the clear advantages of PC's in our work heavy environment.
It's amazing in the past year he's went from being a rich respected person who made a not so top quality product to just being a complete caricature of wealthy people.
I run Kaspersky security software. Seems to work just fine. As for Mac vs. PC; like some others have stated, I like to build my own computers, so no Apple products foe me.
I've engaged in too many Windows/Mac debates. Let me try to add something meaningful.
As a long-time Windows user, I've used a few key pieces of software over the years, and through that, combined with smart internet browsing/downloading, have had minimal issues.
Anti-Virus: AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials are the two free options I would recommend nowadays. Very comprehensive and not too CPU intensive.
Spyware: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - another solid free software; good to run once and a while, will detect and remove a large number of issues, even ones an anti-virus may not recognize. (Popular alternative is Spybot S&D, although I don't personally like it)
As others have mentioned, CCleaner is also a great tool. General disk cleanup, registry repair, startup program monitoring and uninstall features.
Those three things I think are pretty essentially to maintaining a secure Windows computer, and I've had a lot of proven success with it on my own and many others computers.
Avoiding sketchy websites and downloading files from websites you are unfamiliar with is the biggest preventative measure one can take though. Smart browsing is key.
(As a sidenote, keep everything updated. This includes Windows, Java, Flash players, and all of the software I just outlined. It's important to keeping your computer running smoothly.)

I stick with Avira or Avast and CCleaner. I also have WOT installed on my browser to tell me which sites are safe and which ones aren't. If something gets through, I use Malwarebytes on top of my AV.
