Seeking a Bass /w a Strong Low-End

Normally I'd suggest a Bongo for the bottom end, but you also stated angry and mean. That means an active Warwick, and 5 strings of course.

I am completely ignorant on Warwicks.

What model series would that be?

Also try a new cab see if you can get an 15 or an 18. Ampeg makes 18s. That will make your low end really stand out. I think my jazz sounds really good drop tuned. So maybe you could get away with just a new cab.

I don't know... IMO Spector has the best B string

you cant beat Spector's low end. Thunderous lows with sustain for days! I would go with the Euro 5. You can find a used one for under $1000.00 on CL or the bay.

I'm a big fan of the Ibanez ATK.

+1 Give the ATK305 a play. Aggressive kinda like a SR-5 and with a big bottem end. $529 brand new.

No, no, no.... What you need for an angry, mean and heavy bottom end is something rediculously pointy and entirely black from B.C. Rich. Since it looks so mean, everyone will fear your tone.

I had a deluxe 5 string P with the humbucker in the bridge............HUGE bottom end, through a sealed 4x10. It sounded friggin nuts....................man I miss that bass...............

To back what the Capt. said, Spectors are the way to go. Their low B (with the 35" scale) makes the low B tight and responsive while pushing a lot of air. Also, Ive noticed that the Spectors put out DOUBLE the output of the Musicman's (which I love, the musicman's that is...so dont take that as a knock of any kind). Good Luck!
